  1. 1. What if any bread items can you eat without any discomfort

    • None-tried it once will never try it again
    • Little-tried a little not horrible but uncomfortable
    • OK-can eat bread and/or bread products with few problems
    • As much as I want-Never had a problem with bread with the band

I am wondering what percentage of banders can eat breads, crusts, muffins etc. without any problems. Before I get negative posts, the only reason I ask is because I'm curious. bread has been the hardest for me to give up, by far. And if I can have a few bites of bread or Pizza Crust occasionally, that would be more than enough to keep me happy with my strict band diet for the rest of my life

So far, I have not had any problems. I have tried bread un-toasted, rice, Pasta. I haven't tried pizza but I did have the WW Calzone with no trouble. I don't have much restriction though and just had my 2nd fill.

I have 4.5 cc in a 14 cc band (3 fills) and can still eat any bread if I make sure I chew it well. While my surgeon wants us to eat "protein first", he wants his patients to be able to eat a balanced diet. Grains and Pasta are a part of that "balance", so to me bread isn't a dirty word in lap band world.

I can eat some bread without problems. I haven't been able to eat an entire sandwich though. I have eaten pizza without any problemss. It seems that any type of dry dough(like the ww Breakfast pockets) i can only eat half. My bread tolerance seems to vary.

Since getting good restriction, I've had one small slice of pizza and was able to eat it without any problem. I've also had a very small white dinner roll, a slice of whole wheat double Fiber bread, a little Pasta, and a little brown rice. So far, I've haven't experienced any problems, but I am mindful about chewing well and taking small bites. I see no reason to tempt fate.

Some bread without problems.

You wont get any negative comments from me. I dont agree that low carb is necessary for everyone and I make bread and grain products a part of my diet. I dont eat a LOT of bread though, it is difficult sometimes, so maybe a piece of toast once a week or so and the very occasional sandwich.

But I eat Cereal in some form most days, and i eat brown rice and Pasta regularly too.

I can eat breads, but sometimes I get a little bit of of a stuck feeling on certain ones. I have 6cc in a 14cc band. I am getting 2cc put in this coming Monday so I am hoping that will put me where I want to be. Maggies:thumbup:

i can eat bread, just not as much at one time. if i have a burger, i take the top bun off. and YES, i eat burgers from time to time! sue me, lol. or if i have a small roll or muffin, i take small bites. i had pizza for the first time last week. and it was harder to get down, so don't think i'll try it again!

You will hear no negatives about breads from me  I love breads but they do not love me, since I have gotten good restriction I have been able to indulge in such things.

I suppose it is ok as breads are an issue for me, always have been. I saw my surgeon today and he said maybe some day that will change, but only I will know if it will work.

So, no bread whatsoever for me, it just gets stuck - as well as my favorite sushi - no rice for me apparently.

I get lots of carbohydrates from other foods, my oatmeal in the morning, potatoes and such :biggrin:

I do not think, nor have I been told - that a burger is off limits! They are yummy and I haven't had one for a long time, perhaps I will have one this weekend (sans bun though for me) Thank you for the reminder!

At the restriction that I am at now, I can tolerate toasted bread. It's been hard giving up my turkey sandwiches.

Pre-band, I never ate a lot of bread, maybe once every two weeks. We would by a loaf and end up giving it to the ducks at the lake we live on.

Post band, same way. We don't eat bread. However, I bought some thin sliced sour-dough bread last week and we toasted that up. Yummy!!! I chewed it really well and had no Band problems eating it. But it really is unusual to have bread at our house.

I can do bread as long as it is the good multi-grain chewy type with seeds, etc. Never did like soft white bread anyway. I was always a heavy bread user, but now hardly ever eat any. I've pretty much forgotten about it. I can also do rice, but can't do Pasta in any form. I really miss it too!!!

How's everyone doing? I'm still fighting insurance company over plastics.
Many changes at work are coming up. It's very stressful but there are also some opportunities involved, both in regards to personal development and promotion.

I didn't think insurance was even possible for plastics? I figured it would all be out of pocket?
