mqm... i am getting banded with Ortiz on the 16th too!!! It's so great to meet someone who'll be there at the same time. i'd love to stay in touch.

after everything i've read up about lap-band and the OCC, i'm 100% certain that it's the right decision for me. spend some time reading the threads, and you'll learn a lot about people's experiences. fort the most part, they've been quite positive and successful. what i've learned here is that if you follow the post op guidelines, exercise, and drink a lot of Water, the band works wonders.

i'm more afraid of being under general anaesthesia than i am of the surgery or life afterwards. also, this pre-op diet is not exactly a picnic...

the only tip I can give you or ANYONE getting the band is make sure you have your aftercare lined up....fills, who to call if you have a band-related emergency or health issue, etc. Before I got the band I was so focused on GETTING it, I didn't really think about afterward. Now I realize the aftercare is as important as the band itself.

Many surgeons are VERY reluctant to take on patients that another surgeon has operated on. Line someone up locally or, if you plan to fly back for fills, find out what to do if you have the (very rare, but it happens) band type emergency.

Good luck!

You're due in Mexico in less than a month to get a band placed and you're asking about side effects? Respectfully, I suggest that you need to talk to a doctor about this.

Personally, I love my band......but not everybody that has been banded feels that way. That's why an impartial source is sooooo important when it comes to a huge decision like whether to get weightloss surgery, or which surgery is best suited for you.

Is it a good decision? It was for me. Will it be a good decision for you? Nobody on here can answer that for you. Talk to some professionals, get the info, and make the choice that is good for you. Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
