Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor will be banded in February

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Kelly and I am 26 years old. I live in So Cal and will be banded in February. I think this idea of a mentor is great. If anyone is interested in taking this journey with me I would appreciate the help. Thank you.:grouphug:

hi Alcine. I do not have a date yet. I have the rest of my pre op testing on Wednesday, January 14th and they said it will be about three or four weeks after that. Do you have a date yet?

Yes I do, in fact I found out on friday that I will be banded on Feb. 16! I have my pre-surgery consult on feb. 2. I'm scared out of my mind lol. Its the whole surgery and putting me under that makes me scared.

Ya I totally get it about being scared. Just focus on the fact that the reason we have so many pre op tests is to make sure that the surgery will go smoothly. So what appointment was it that they set the date for you? Was it after your pre op testing?

Actually for me I had just finished my psychological evaluation and it was right before New Years, and my doc. told me to wait about a week before contacting my surgeons office so that she could get her papers to them. I called last friday to verify if they had everything and they did and so they scheduled me right over the phone.

I know what you mean I want to wait to buy new clothes too :cursing:. I meet with my surgeon on Feb. 2 for the pre-surgery consult and that will be the last thing I do before my surgery! I don't know about the pre-op diet. I've been reading a lot on here that some have to do it and some don't. My older sister (she was banded Dec. 5) didnt' have to do a pre-op diet. I guess it just varies from person to person. I know the main reason for putting people on the pre-op diet is to shrink their liver to make it more easy to get to the stomach during surgery. I'll let u know what they tell me on the 2nd :cursing:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
