Tricare in the Memphis area

Hello everyone I'm going thru the process right now and I would like to know what I am going to have to pay for myself. I have looked all over this web site and heard different things. I guess what I am looking for is anyone in the Memphis area on Tricare Prime to help me with this. I will be seeing Dr Virginia Weaver. Thanks for all your help.

I am not in the Memphis area but I have tricare prime and my only out of pocket cost was $12. My surgeon was in network and they paid everything.Good Luck!

Is Memphis in the Tricare South Region? I actually have Tricare Reserve Select, but when I went in for my preop testing the hospital made me pay $2625 up front (the doctor and hospital are both in network). That amount didn't sound right to me, so I went home and researched it. Apparently Tricare Prime has a catastrophic cap of $3000; the hospital coded me as Prime, and charged me the remainder of the cap after my other out-of-pockets I had paid through the year. I contacted the hospital and they corrected the coding error. I am now awaiting a $2000 refund from the hospital, since the cap for Reserve Select is $1000. But $2625 (with a maximum of $3000 if I'd had no other costs for the fiscal year) would have been my total out-of-pocket for the surgery if I was Prime. I don't know if that helps at all; I know insurance stuff can be confusing, especially Tricare in all of its forms!

Thanks everyone. First yes I am Tricare Prime South. Second I have an appointment with the Dietitian on Jan 22. They told me I needed to bring 350.00 because Tricare does not cover that part of the process. But that doesn't sound right to me because it is apart of the process. I can't wait until this process is over. What is driving me crazy is that I haven't even seen the Doctor yet.

I did have to pay for my dietician appointment. My dietician dose not accept or bill insurance. Be patient and jump through all of the hoops and it will be worth it! I did not see the surgeon until 3 weeks before surgery. Good Luck!
