Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor rock bottom in oregon.

I am a mom of a very energetic 3 year old boy. I have arthritis bad in my hips and lower back, I can't keep up or play with him.. my husband and I have been struggling to have a second child because of my weight causing me to be irregular. I am scared to make the call but I know it's time. I am in need of a mentor someone to walk me through it and support me. I don't get a lot of family support as im the only (big boned sibling). My husband doesn't understand so I am definitely feeling alone in this. I will be getting the surgery done at OHSU in Oregon if all goes well.

I just got the surgery Dec 11th. Since the pre-op diet two weeks prior to surgery until today I have lost about 25 lbs. My mother is skeptical but I needed to do this for me,you spend so much time taking care of your kids and your husband...now you need to take time for you...*sorry off subject--We moved back to Florida from Newberg OR in 2004. I miss Mt Hood and Seaside. My friend her encouraged me as she ad the band last year and was succesful. Anything I can do to help or encourage you I will. Make sure the first few days after surgery you take the pain medication and get lots and lots of sleep. Have someone else there to watch your three year old. I felt I had to entertain people here after surgery so I din't sleep right away. The more I slept and rested the better I felt...Of course only for a few days. Once you find a surgeon join the support group, you will be in the the same group of people during your preop-surgery-and postop and everyone is willing to share tips and support-

I live on the Oregon coast if you need someone to talk to feel free to email me anytime jazma2007@yahoo.com

Hi there,

I am in AZ but I sure have alot in common with you. I also have young children, a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old. I have arthritis in my low back and also my hip (had hip replacement in 2007, THANK GOD!) and have had a bad bout of plantar fasciitis in my foot. I had trouble keeping up with my kid and couldnt concieve due to my weight. We adopted our 2 yr old last year. I was banded August 12, 2008 and have been losing slowly, a steady 6 lbs a month. Not very fast but ok considering I have not been able to exercise. I do not have any support groups near me either and really would love to buddy up with you. Send me a PM and we can exchange emails and keep each other motivated. Hope to hear from you soon.

Judie
