Thank God the holidays are almost over

Recommended Posts

I don't know about anyone else but I'm thankful Christmas is over for the very reason why I why I write into this web site. There is just too much temptation. I was banded 2 days before Thanksgiving, and that was hard enough but I couldn't eat any of the good stuff even if I wanted to. However Christmas was a whole new ball game, I cheated left and right. On a postive note I kept the quanities to a very minimum. So if I gained anything this week the damage should be minimal.

Tomorrow I will get serious about following the doctors orders, and try to put this last week behind me. By the way, as I am glad Christmas is over due to the food issues, I sorry to see it go for all the other reasons. It truly was a wonderful Christmas, and many family and friends that I hadn't seen in a while commented on the weight I lost so that will help encourage me to restart tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone else, and I hope your Christmas was wonderful as well.

I can identify 150%. I was banded 12/10/08 and had to sit through pot luck at work while I had my slim fast and pizza at work while I ate my tuna. I too on Christmas let go a bit and had things I should not. My problem is I have not had any issues with any food I have eaten so it has been easy to cheat. I actually thought for a second maybe my surgeon never put the band in me? But I went shopping today for everything I should be eating for this to work. I am at 421 now and my goal is to break 400 when I go for my next weigh in on January 19. I am going to work hard to do it. I think that is the most important thing is to get right back on when you now you have fallen off. Nobody is perfect and us with eating issues are far from it. We can't beat our selves up.

I too can relate. I ate so many things I should not have and need to get back to what I am supposed to be doing. I was banded 12/2 and go back on 1/15 for my first fill. I cannot wait as I am hoping for some of the restriction that others talk about and I do not feel. Today and at this moment I am really discouraged.

Amen to that! After having Christmas get-togethers all week I am glad it's done! The temptations will be kept to a minimum now. So in the morning it's back to the gym and full speed ahead.

Oh I ate a few things yesterday at a Red Hat Christmas party I went too. Decided to go on the 5 day all liquid "get back on track" diet. Cause New Years Eve we do Chinese food LOL. I dont' know if I will make my goal of 170 but if I come within a pound or two I will be happy.

Getting another fill I hope in early Feb.

Take care all

I also can't wait for the holidays to end!!!! I haven't had my first fill yet and while I am still limited as to how much I can eat - I have been able to eat anything!!! There has been too much temptation out there and I haven't been strong enough to resist it all.

OMG how well I can relate. I was told by my husband I was being antisocial because I wasn't sitting in the kitchen with everyone as they were chatting and eating. I just removed myself from temptation and went into the living room with my two boys and watched television. I explained to him how hard it was for me to be in there and he understood. I am guessing everyone else did too but if not oh well. I was one of the one's that gained 3 pounds from post op appt to 1 mo follow up....but I have now (as per my scale) lost 11 pounds since that "slap in the face reality check" first fill which was on December 10th (little over 2 weeks ago). So I feel avoiding the situation helped a little. And now I know if I cheat even a little that is 15 extra minutes on the eliptical just to work off that bit of calories.....not worth the extra time....LOL

Good luck to everyone and stay focused.....we have all proven we can do this. Good luck in the New Year to the New YOU!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
