Loss of appetite???

Recommended Posts

have a question for you that I never thought I would have to ask. Today (day 10 after my first fill) I added some meat to Breakfast and I found I didn't have to eat a second breakfast after all. Just eggs slip through to quickly. (Thanks for the advice.) So for lunch I had my chicken salad, actually maybe half of a serving and I thought I would try some slices of apple. I was curious if I would have any problem with the skin. It went down fine and tasted GREAT! I started to feel full and so instead of finishing what I usually ate I heard a voice in my head telling me to see how little I could get by on. If I was feeling full then I would stop. I didn't eat much. I never thought I would make it my usual 3 hours. Now almost 6 hours later I am not hungry. I have been working very hard for two months not to eat unless I am hungry. I have been doing great, even to the point I found myself thinking, "Wow that looks great, I wish I was hungry so I could eat it."

So here is my question. Do I eat because it is supper time. (Past supper time.) Or should I wait until I get hungry? Wow! What a problem to have. I hope this isn't a one time thing!

Personally, I would wait till you're hungry. I only eat when I am hungry-- I did the same thing when I started out to "train" myself. Also--before I my last fill I HAD to eat major Protein for breakfast or I would get hungry very quickly. I did eggs too. And when I eat more fiberous food (apple, grapes, carrot, broccoli, asparagus) it stays with me much longer as well.

I have major restriction now--I am so happy for it but am back to experiment mode as to what food I can eat very slowly with out wanting to tear open my chest or slime. Before I could pretty much eat anything and ate slowly but apparently not slow enough. Breakfast is not an option. I will eat some fruit or lunchmeat when I get hungry and am able to eat solid food (usually at 10 am or so). MOst of the time I don't eat breakfast b/c I am too tight and not hungry. Eggs are out of the question now, so is bread unless really toasted and thin. lunch is in the afternoon and then I eat dinner when I get hungry at night-- usually 7 or 8 pm.

Do what works for you-- just make sure you're eating enough! It's definitely a learning process!

Well, I thought my question fit this thread...I am 5 days post-op and the pain is totally bearable, but I seem to be able to take in less and less everyday, I just can't get myself to take in anything but Water is that normal? I've been doing a lot of walking and my gas pains are pretty much gone by now....How long after surgery will I be actually feel ok to drink what they ask me to? I can't even imagine myself eating...

thanks for your input

You could have a lot of swelling after surgery. Keep drinking so you aren't getting dehydrated. Try to follow your doctors diet in regards to Clear liquids and full liquids. You will be surprised how quickly things change in the first few weeks. If it continues call you doctor. They will tell you what they know from experience.

Good luck!

Yah... julie.ann and rafa2 are experiencing two totally different things. Julie, if you're getting adequate nutrition I wouldn't be concerned about what time the clock says. rafa2... I agree with Julie, you're still experiencing the swelling trauma from surgery. Focus throughout the day on sipping liquids to stave off dehydration. You'll see improvement very soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
