After 20+ years of struggling with my weight and reaching (and exceeding) the 200 lb mark I knew I had to do something more than just try another diet or personal trainer. I spent 6 months prior to deciding on surgery working out 2x a week with a trainer and an additional 3 days on my own.  I logged everything i ate and was very dedicated to eating right.  I lost 10 lbs and 1 size.  I knew I had to take a more serious step.  My grandmother was morbidly obese and it killed her.  It will kill my aunts and i didn't want to be the next generation.  I had met the love of my life who didn't care what size I was but for the first time it wasn't about the way I looked but about actually spending the rest of my life with him and not wanting it to be filled with health problems and misery.  I knew the Lap band would be my lifesaver.  I have lost very slowly, and was advised I would due to my lower BMI (35 at surgery).  I had to use my savings as insurance wouldn't cover me.  But it is an investment in my life and future.  WORTH EVERY PENNY.   Through all the ups and downs of this journey and the scale I wouldn't change it.  I truly believe that it has saved my life.
