Hi

Yes tomorrow is the big day ! I can't wait ! thats good to know about that support group thanks. I hear you get alot of information at those meetings? Vera how come you had to be rebanded?

Hi Erin

I was going to PM you but since I get this question a lot, I thought I'd post it.

My old band was an AMI-swedish band that was installed 8/14/03 by Dr. Sanchez. After about 6 months and 4 fills I had a flouro/X-ray check which revealed a kink in the tubing. Well I suspected a leak, then confirmed it over 4 months later in mex, cause Dr. Sanchez recomended I go see him. At that visit the tubing was repaired and I was given a 7cc fill (big band), a month later my doctor (McKeen) here in Calif. did a flouro fill and that's when we saw that the repair didn't work. Back to mex I went and Dr. Sanchez decided to reband me, free (the makers of the AMI band is paying for it). Dr. Sanchez takes care of his people!

I haven't had a problem since except for at times I'm a bit too restricted. I had a small fill last month. I'm still able to eat a scoop of cottage cheese or tuna. It's the hard protiens I have to chew, chew, chew!

My thoughts are with you tomorrow.

Let us know how you are, I'll be expecting a post

Hello

Hi Vera ! I wanted to let you know it went great ! I got banded at 12 pm and was home by 5pm ! (we had an hour drive) I had alot of pain in my shoulder though when I first woke up, but it just went away. So I feel alot better now. I have a sore throat though and that sucks ! Thank you for answering my question about the re band I kinda thought alot of people probably ask you that. Im glad they fixed it and for free too! Thank you Vera I HAD to get on here to let you know how it went ! Thank you to everyone for your good wishes too! I look forward to talking to you all more through this !

Congratulations Erin!!

Cheer's to the start of your new Journey

Take it easy, try and walk frequently and sip your fluids.

Hello Bay Area Bandsters. I live in Oakland. Was banded on August 24th. There have to be more Northern Californians. Holla!

I live in Hayward. where did you get banded? I got banded in S.F. on 9-15-05. How is it going for you being almost a month out? what are you eating ? Im curious cus we will going on a cruise when Im about a month out too so Im wondering what I will be able to eat!

Hi Erin. I was banded in Oakland at AltaBates Summit. I am able to eat anything I want. My doctor was very relaxed about food. He kept me on fot foods for the first 2 weeks and then said that I could advance my diet. His main concern was that I not eat bread, pasta, or popcorn. He doesn't want me to throw up. I had lost 15 pounds at my first post op appt. two weeks ago. I don't own a scale so I haven't weighed lately. I may be going on a cruise in December so you will have to let me know how things go for you. The only "problem" I forsee is that I won't be able to eat massive and unlimited amounts of food. Keep me posted on your progress.

wow thats great ! I wish my Dr. was that lax. Im supposed to be on liquids for 3 weeks ! I never thought I would grow so sick of Jello ! lol Im not sure I will last the whole 3 weeks , but Im gonna give it a shot! I will let you know too how I did on the cruise ! Im more worried about being able to drink alcohol though on that trip ! I figure I can have jello and liquid so maybe I could have vodka jello shots?! lol

I'm in Chula Vista which is about 10 min. from the Tijuana border. I'm getting my band on Monday and would love to get together for support.

I am getting banded in Mexico on 9/30 with Dr. Ortiz. I live in Redlands, which is about 100 miles north of TJ, so I will be driving Thursday to the border for my surgery on Friday, I can't wait!!!

Hello,

I know what you mean regarding waiting fo be on mushy foods. I am 6 days out from surgery and keep waking up wanting to "chew" something.

I know people tho are on strict liquids and are having a tough time at it. I always have a cup or two of clear broth - it really helps.

Best of luck to you!

Darla

I'm in Eureka (up by the Oregon border). My surgery will happen after the first of the year. I'm diabetic, and was told by my surgeon that I must get my blood sugars under better control before she will operate. And more power to her; I like it that she's tough and uncompromising.

So for now, I'm still in the research (and pre-op dieting) phase. You're right, it IS nice to have you all right here in the same state and just a keyboard away!

I'm in Bakersfield. I am researching "the band" and tired of being fat. I just found this sight/forum. it looks like I can do all my research here.
