December Lapbander

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! My surgery is scheduled for 9:30 tomorrow morning. I have been reading this site for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed with the sharing of knowledge and experience.

I will be looking for recipes to get through the liquid stage. I am excited and feel that everything will go well.

Over the past 2 weeks I have lost 18 pounds and I have quite a ways to go. Wish me luck tomorrow.

Hello plain,

I am home now. The surgery went well. I am pretty sore but I am doing lots of walking to get the air out of my body. I look forward to losing more weight in the days to come.

When is your surgery?

I just got banded on the 4th of December in Traverse City Mi.

I have to say it is not nearly as bad as I had expected! I do have a little soreness to be expected. The hardest part is the mental hunger......has anyone else experianced this? Does this go away? This is a great site

Thanks!!

Hi Mattipey, since being banded on December 3rd today is my first day of really feeling the hunger. I was told by my doctor's nurse that I could have cheesy grits, fat free creamy Soups mixed with skim milk, and diluted fruit juice. Also he wants me to consume one Protein Shake every day.

Today is the first day that I have attempted a Protein shake, but I could not drink it all. Remember to sip your drinks. I did not do this yesterday and I was miserable for a long time before it actually went down. And today is the first day that I have not felt bloated.

If you have get any suggestions from anyone, please share them. Also the doctor took me off my diabetes medication, he cut my blood pressure medication in half. I look forward to constantly feeling better as time goes by. I am going to return to work on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

I wanted to introduce myself by saying I was banded on Friday the 5th. I feel pretty good except for some burning around the port area. I have been out both Saturday and Sunday for a while. The walk did me good. I can't complain I am on my way to a new me. I do have a question concerning the amount of liquids to comsume right after surgery. My paperwork from the doctor is a little vague. Thanks for any information you can share.

Hi lucyw,

I am glad that everything went well for you. I went out for a while on Saturday and I must say the walk was good for me. Today my husband had eye surgery and this really wore me out today because it was an exceptionally long day.

Regarding how much food to eat, my instructions are pretty vague too. I'm staying with about 2 tablespoons per meal. So far, I have been comfortably full. But if I were you, I would call back to my doctor's nurse or nutritionist and ask that question.

Good luck!

Thanks smiles12. I hope all went well with your husbands surgery. I bet it took a lot out of you. I am feeling better every day and think I will go back to work Thursday. I'm not one to sit around. I took your advice and called my Dr. yesterday. Your advice was spot on. Thanks again.

My husband's surgery went well. Today is my first day back to work. I have worked a 10 hour day. I only intended to work 8 hours, but time slipped away from me. I actually feel pretty good today. Since November 16, 2008, I have lost 23 lbs. The day of surgery, I had lost 18 lbs. Since I constantly feel full right now, it is hard for me to get enough liquids down. I have been trying to drink one Protein shake a day. And I have been eating egg drop Soup and some cream Soup. I know the egg drop soup is not low calorie, but I had to have a change. Continue to wish me luck. Keep striving!!!!!! I am glad you are feeling good. Take care!

Hey Smiles12. Glad to hear all went well with the surgery. I know what you mean about working long hours. I go back tomorrow. I was supposed to be off the rest of the week but can't take sitting around. I have been drinking tea, crystal light etc. It is hard to get in the Protein Shakes. I am taking one to work with me and I'll see how it goes. Keep up the good work with the weight loss. I can't wait to see how I am doing. I go to the Dr's next week. Thanks for all the info it really helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
