Ash, I am so sorry you are dealing with that! Coughing with the incisions is painful so you must really be feeling it! I hope that with rest and more fluids this passes quickly.

I had my post op apt yesterday with Dr Park. She was very happy with my loss and gave me glowing marks! She said that the wieght loss will slow down now but they are seeing sleeve patients continue to lose a pound a week for up to two years! Yeah, I had no idea that it could continue that long. I hope it does for me since I have such a big number to lose. Now that I have the go ahead I need to step up the excercise. Waiting to get started until after next week when my oldest is graduating HS. After graduation we get on a bus midnight for a Grad Trip to Disneyland, and I am chaperoning! I can't wait sit in a ride and fit! Last time I was there I was so uncomfortable.

Welcome to the new people...lots of good info on here so stick around. Good luck to the ones approaching surgery.

Welcome Acaaew. They may not recommend RNY for you as a cancer survivor. The Sleeve is more effective for those of us that have needed drugs in the past and may need them again. Because of that, the only surgery available to me was the Sleeve and since that was my 1st choice, I was thrilled.

Analynn, I get my calcium citrate chews at Bariatric Advantage. I like the raspberry and chocolate flavors.

Ash, so sorry you're sick sweetheart.

John, Robin doesn't advance to the last stage, that's up to Doc Fisher. Baggs and I didn't even discuss it so I just did it.

Has anyone seen or heard from Pat? I'm getting a little concerned about her.

Late for work, have to run....

Ashley hope you feel better soon!! I had a bad cough after surgery for a week and it HURTS!! So sorry and an ER visit ..............feel better soon.

Went into Kaiser Vacaville today. Down 12 pounds so close to the 15 I hope for!! But I got lucky because it was more like 10 yesterday and still going up and down like crazy. Got another fill but debated alot about it first. I don't want to be to tight. Since I am down quit a bit I got a .5 fill. I thought maybe a .25 would be good but than I need to go back next month..............This way I can wait until August to go back. I am back to where I was a month ago, no apetite and really tight. Gotta get the weight off and it will loosen right up.......back to eating a bit less than 1/4 cup. I am in mourning about being back to step one gain!! LOL. Actually it is good for me. I will have to work myself back up to a cup. I was able to eat about a cup of food here the last few days.................trying not to take advantage of it but ya know!! LOL :-) Back to restriction.

TAMRA didn't see you how did your appointment go?? I saw another patient I knew there. Haven't seen her for almost a year and she looked good.

Hope everyone is doing well. Would love some updates on people ithas been quiet online.

Hey all...

I just joined today and have really enjoyed reading all the wonderful information. I was wondering, when you all talk about losing weight was it after you met the surgeon? I have had my orienatation in Vacaville and had to wait until now almost a year later in order to set this next step up. Had some family issues and was not able to take any time off. So I am super excited because Thursday, June 10 I get to meet Dr. Park in Vacaville. I have gained a couple pounds since the orientation last year so hoping she tells me my goal weight then and I go from there. Thank you all for you support and being there!

Hello all,

So I have been outta the loop lately, with school being in the day I am never online.

The appt. with Dr Baggs didn't happen, I had to post pone for school again. I called and Bev happened to have an available appt. on June 17th, so that's my day.

I have been eating pretty bad. I have a new group of friends and no one knows I have the band. I eat Sushi, coffee, whatever they go too I can never say no. It's been hard. They always tease me for getting Decaf coffees, and ask me why and I just reply "ah my Dr told me too"

Today I had my first PB expierence. That was NOT CUTE. I was eating a waffle at Hometown Buffet with my bf and it got stuck, I had horrible pains. I told him dude I can't get it unstuck, I need to go to the bathroom BRB. I get in there, and all of a sudden it happens. It was so gross, I texted Nicollie right after and said "ummm I think I just PBed??" LOL.

Later this afternoon out of NOWHERE I got sick! I have a pounding headache, ear ache, my throat is sore and im sick to my stomach. I can't win.

Scale was 233 today. Thats ok, I expected it. I found out I will be in a wedding exactly one year from this week, so I really want to be at my goal of 165 there, looking like a cute bridesmaid hehe!

Soooo back on track tomorrow, I hope I don't stay sick to long. Hope you are all doing well.

Tina, did you do ok? more fills?

Hi Cole and welcome to the board. Congrats on seeing Dr Park soon; she was my surgeon and she is very good. I use the weight on orientation day as my starting weight and my weight loss is all from that weight.

Where do you live and what type of surgery are you planning? Many on here have had the lap band but us sleevers are in here too!

Wow, Nichole that sounds yucky! Nothing like a little pbing to get you back and track. Good choices!

It was a hot mf weekend and my food choices have not been the best...having mommy anxiety with my oldest gradutating on Tuesday...he's been by my side for 18 years and it's really hard for me to let go. I need to get out of this sadness and get to the happy mode.

Thanks Ali for the welcome. I am super excited to see what Thursday brings. I am expecting her to tell me to loose and can't wait to start on the journey to being thin! I have never been thin and have bounced up and down before but never got below 170 which was alright...but want to pass that soon! I have a two almost three year old and want to be able to keep up with her and to be able to enjoy her to the fullest without always feeling so self concious. My family has diabetes running very strongly and I have been really lucky to not have gotten it but I can't imagine if I stay at this weight it won't be far out.

So...Thursday is going to be a big day for me. Getting me back in the game and starting to prepare for my big day. I am going for the lap band, seems to be the most beneficial to me. I want to have the option to have it removed if need be later in life.

Thanks for the support, I am addicted to this site already :)

Good Morning!

Things are going good here. Lot's of exercise and sun this weekend. My son got home yesterday so it was great that he got up and walked the 3 miles around the lake with me this morning. Weight loss still going slow but determined to be 174 when I see Dr. Baggs in August since that was the goal he set for me to be "overweight" at my six month check.

I won't be around until the end of the month as I have a busy work week and leave early Friday morning for France to spend a week in Provence and a week in an apartment on the French Riviera. I'm looking forward to a visit to St. Tropez and all of the other southern towns. This vacation is a treat for working my Sleeve and really taking care of myself this year.

I'll try to stop back before I leave. Have a fun day everyone.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
