I was so prepared for Adam to win but am glad that Kris did. Adam is such a good entertainer and will be big someday. He just wasn't what I would listen too. A little too screechy for me.

Everyone that is traveling this week, be safe. Enjoy your journey's and as Tracy says, "Respect the Pouch".

Hubby and I are staying home. Heck, we don't need to go anywhere. We have all we need right here. And somewhat good weather to boot. Pool is up and running, heater is one. Potato salad will be made and the watermelon cut up. The grill will get a workout this weekend.

Off to the grocery store.

Morning Chicas~

I knew it was Memorial weekend, but forgot I have Monday off! What a bonus. I have only focused on Sat...I hope to either do nothing or get invited to a BBQ on Monday. Susie, your posts sounds sooo good and All American!! Have fun!

Judy, have fun too! Everyone have a great and safe weekend!

Jenn, thinking about you...sleep in sista!

LOVED AMERICAN IDOL last night! Like LOVEDLOVEDLOVED IT!!! Are you kidding, KISS, Queen, Rod Stewart, Richie, Cindy Lauper!!! What a great show. I have been happy w/ the last 5, so I didn't care who won...thought it would be Adam, but believe me...he is already a star! I've downloaded almost every song he sang this season...and I listen to it all the time. FAV is Ring of Fire!!!

Back to work today! Feels like I am just going through the motions...got too much going on!

Have a great day!

I haven't watched all of AI, but was surprised to see Kris when. I am like Suzie though, I didn't care for Adams singing, but thought he was great! He just wasn't what I would listen too!! Kris seems like an 'Aw Shucks' kinda guy, I hope he stays that way, cause he is charming!

Jenn and Terry hugs and hang in there!!!

Thanks Judy!!!!

Have fun Tracy and Judy!!

Have never eaten a crawfish!! Isn't that the thing you are supposed to suck the head out of? YUCK!!

Michelle, hope this whole PTA thing doesn't jade you on the wonderful work you have done!!! I was really wanting to be a teacher and come work at your kids school!!!

Hello Jane!

Have fun Judy and Tracy!

Guess what I'm doing this weekend?? NOTHING!! Yay!! Juan's mom is having a BBQ at her house on Sunday so I plan on relaxing in the pool and eating ribs and that's it... We're going toobing on Monday though!! So excited!

Jenn - Sucks about the fight with your mom. Everyone is probably stressed out because of today. I wish I could help! I heard on the radio this morning that both Austin and San Antonio were listed in the top cities to live and work in! There are jobs here... Come on dowwwnnnnn....

Terry - how's your son doing? Any better??

Pammy - How many more days till school is over?? Are your kids getting bad? My best friend is having a rough week with her kids, LOL. They are antsy!

Michelle - shake it off, don't let them get to you. In the long run if it doesn't directly affect your family then try not to let it get to you. I have to remind myself of that often but it works!

I went grocery shopping last night and I couldn't believe how much I spent. And I didn't even come home with much. It's so expensive to try to eat right. A whole pizza at Sam's cost $8.00 but if I get salmon and some green Beans for four it's almost $30 bucks. Fish is super expensive, lean meat, lean turkey, chicken breasts. Sooo expensive. The good turkey lunch meat, $8.00 a pound. Ohmygaw and this is just for two people... and the occasional little brothers and little sisters, LOL. They come over and they inhale any and all leftovers I might have in my fridge, LOL.

My eyes are so swollen today, like I slept way too much but I didn't. I went to bed at around 11:30 and got up at 6:30ish. Normal times... I think I might need some coffee...

I hear ya Haydee, my eyes are swollen too. The lilacs are easing off, but the Russian Olive trees (damn noxious weed tree) are coming on full force, and they kill my allergies. Once they are fully leafed, I will ease up until the cotton wood trees start producing cotton! But every allergy med I try makes me sleepy----so trying to tough it out this year.

We are normally only open for a couple of hours in the afternoon on Thursday if at all, so they called me and said she had rearranged a couple of appointments, so I could have the day off with my husband!! YAY

But just as we hung up, my MIL called with the news that my SIL is in ICU. They did her corrective surgery on her band around a month ago, I guess she is still having issues----and is now suspected to be septic, and has a high fever, and is in intesive care. So our day off will be spent sitting at the hospital.

I have no idea if they tried filling her since her surgery or not. The band surgeon did a swallow study before he released her, and the Fluid flowed through the band with no resistance, but she says she has not been able to eat at all since, and has been on IV's and steroids since then. She says the Dr. thinks it is swelling. I don't. That long with no food, no vomiting, and steroids, the swelling would be eased. However I believe she is still throwing up according to what my MIL says, so who knows what is going on.

I don't think any of the Dr.'s involved know that they filled and unfilled her on their own, so they likely do not know what kinds of infection could be lurking. VERY SCARY!!

And as usual, my MIL is blaming it on me, for pushing her to get banded with me. I swear on everything I hold dear, I never in any way pushed her, she was as willing and as determined to do this as I ever was. The woman needs to watch it with me, I am trying to be nice because I know she is stressed with that being her DD. But if she does the blame thing to me in front of all those people at the hospital, I have a bit of an idea how to respond----but it will take control not to blast her away! Making myself keep in mind how I felt when Manda was so sick-----but even then I wasn't blaming someone else. I am not 81 years old, I am not 5 years old....I will be nice. Not walked on and blamed, but nice.....breath deep and repeat......

I need to go get a couple of things done so I can get to the hospital.

Rick planted veggies this morning early. He will take care of them, I won't do anything with them til time to cook them!

Everyone have a good day, travel safe and take care!!

Tracy and Judy, have fun on your trips.

Kat, I think some people are always looking for someone to blame so you can't take it personal. Banding works great for most, occasionally goes wrong for some. It is a risk we all decided to take without knowing which side of the fence we would fall on. I am really, truly sorry about your SIL. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy and I really hope she recovers fully with a workable band and no more problems.

Michelle, my distaste for PTA politics is growing with every post. Thank goodness you are almost done . . . you deserve better after so many years with wine and roses and thank yous being the bare minimum.

Pamela, I am soo happy for you. That is a nice raise and I hope you and Sus do something really special to Celebrate like a little getaway together. After all, as my husband can attest, partners definitely make sacrifices (at least in time missed being together or extra stress) when you are working and going to school at the same time. I know there were times I felt like pulling my hair out when I had a hefty assignment due, little time to do it, was pregnant and cranky and my dh would bring me something cold to drink, or massage my shoulders or just sit near with the laptop and some headphones just to be supportive.

Terry, hang in there and just imagine all the purple power surrounding you. We are all thinking about you and hoping things improve quickly.

Everyone else have a lovely Memorial Day weekend.

Hi all -

Janie - don't knock crawfish until you've tried them! You oughta see the people swarming around any and all crawfish boils in town! Those people can't be ALL crazy! Well, maybe in Louisiana...

Haydee - hope you make the most of your down time, girl! Do you make an effort to shop for your meat when it's on sale? I save 25-30% on my grocery bills if I scour the flyer and buy only what's on sale and work the menus around that. What store do you use?

Kat - that was so nice of Rick! Now don't you feel horrible?? ;-) Yum! Fresh veggies! I'm jealous! I do NOT have any sort of green thumb whatsoever. YOu should just politely tell your MIL that you're tired of being blamed for the actions of another...and you just don't want to hear another word about it. Period. Besides, what did she think was gonna happen by being so freakin' tight for so long?? Not to mention filling herself??!?!? She's got nobody to blame but herself.

My son is pretty much of a mess.... he's going in for treatment on Saturday and will be gone for 45 days. At least he'll be safe for that long. I hope it does some good. Thanks for the prayers and please keep 'em coming!!

Laura - I wasn't either. We stopped watching about two months ago?? Almost right at the beginning...

Terry - I use HEB. I'm so not organized though. I should scour the papers or use coupons and stuff but I just go grocery shopping when we're out of stuff... I know, not smart. I need to organize myself better, my whole life actually!

Kat - Yay on the day off and Boo on having to go to the hospital. That really really sucks. And then to go and be supportive just so that you can get blamed heaped on you?? I would definetly say something at the first peep out of someones mouth about it. SHE IS NOT FIVE. She was an adult when she decided to do this. No one is to blame. These things happen and you know that going in that there is that chance. Gawd I wish I could be there to have your back...

Heather! How you doing?? How have you been feeling?? You've only got about two weeks left!

Terry - i'm so sorry for what you are dealing with... but you are right, at least he will be safe

tomorrow i'm getting up and going for a walk,

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
