Shrinkin' Violets Part 3 Read HERE!

Just poppin in real quick, I am so exhausted today (more so than usual). Carson hasn't slept much today; he's a little fussy when not held, but he's just been alert and wanting to be entertained, which is hard since he can't play yet.

Pam, that book is awesome! SOMEHOW I actually forgot about it, my mom introduced me to that book years ago, it's such a beautiful story. Thank you )

Russ said he made Carson have a full fledged smile 2x today. I have him most of the time and I haven't had a real full one yet, Russ has him 10 minutes and bam. He said he was nuzzling his nose.. I gobble his neck and nuzzle and NOTHIN. Boo

He said he definitely has dimples on both sides. Wonder where they came from!

Good morning, Violets.

Been up since 5:30 and now getting dressed to head to Kdg. round up. We'll finish today and get the kids all grouped and split up between teachers.

Dress rehearsal tonight for our community chorus concert. I play flute in one number so I got my picture in the paper yesterday.. woo hooo.. not a very attractive shot, I couldn't muster a lovely smile. It was more of a smirk.

Everyone have a great day. The pool was 79 degrees just now after the air temps getting into the 30's last night. It should warm up more once the sun comes out.

Will check back in this evening..

Hubby and I are up and he decided that after yesterday that we are not going to the gym today. So I'm gonna get dressed and go to the grocery store. They have watermelons on sale. I think when I get back that it will be Shampoo the carpets time.

I had a real good eating day yesterday. I hope I can keep this up. I also did really good on drinking my Water, but it helped being outside in the sun all day. This morning you can now tell I'm sunburned. It never dawned on me to put sunscreen on, duh.

Have a great day.

Hi friends~

Brought macy to get her hair cut. I told her it is pool season to sway her into letting me get it cut short....it worked! lol When her hair is long it hangs in the pool it turns her blonde hair green on the ends. I will post a pic later. She is so cute with short hair!

Have a great day everyone. Stil hanging in at the same weight. *sigh* but not giving up!!

Sounds delish! We used to have cuc salad always in the fridge when we were kids!

Thank you :))

Can't wait to see the gumless smile! WooHoo...Carson does not know what is even coming his way does he?

Up and, um, at 'em today! Hardly...dragging my tired ass to the shower is more like it. My hair is soooo short, I love it! Yesterday, he only had me down for a cut, not color and was booked, so I only got the cut :( Gotta go back on Tuesday for color, which sucks cause I am trying to keep next week open for misc. First up is deciding EXACTLY what I'll wear at graduation??? I am thinking black nice capris and some dressy shirt. I have cute black and white low heels. This will look good under the gown, which drops at mid calf. Otherwise, I look like a judge. I need to be beautiful, relaxed, and try to stay cool. Gonna be hot as hell under the gown w/ velvet and the cap!

Then I need a pedi, wax, now hair color, to clean the house because my step mom and susanne's parents will be here (wish I didnt let the maid go, I have not cleaned the house in over 4 years!). AAAHHH...starting to get all freaked out!

Pop in later!

have a great day!

Good Friday Morning, Vi's!~~

The kids have a 2-hour late opening for school today... and then @ Noon I leave w/my friend for the Springsteen concert! It's at an OUTdoor arena in Hershey, PA (yes, the chocolate Hershey, PA :tt1:) & that's an easy 1.5 hrs drive from here (basically, we drive straight! ha!). We're going up early, will grab some lunch, hit the World of Choc museum/tour/store, then tailgate :) a bit, then head to the concert! Yay! The only "cloud" over all this is, literally, clouds & the forecast of storms for this evening! Yikes! So I'm just going to wear clothes I don't care about getting soaked in + a couple plastic ponchos & a GREAT attitude!

Everyone have a "ROCKIN'" day!!!

Y'know what? I'm going to bring a map of the USA with me to our gathering & we can all show where we live & then I think we'll all be a bit clearer on this stuff! Cuz' I know I'm always confused that TracyKS & Suzie & you are closer together than I think you should be, etc... thanks for the idea, Jane!

Hubby and I are off to go see "Star Trek".

Michelle, Have a blast and don't over due the choco-thing. When you get done there can you go take care of Pammie's house? And TracyKS and I live about a 1 1/2 hour drive from each other. She's right over the state line from me and Janie is on the other side of the state from me. About a 4 hour drive.

Janie, Yup, my birthday is June 24th. Same as Judy's. The concert is the 29th. (I think) in Chicago. I need to contact Bob and ask him more details but I think Darrell and I are going to drive up on Friday, spend the night and tour Chicago and than leave early Sunday morning. If all goes well. Sister hasn't been told yet but hopefully my other sis can step in for me. We'll see. Airfare for us was going to be over $400 and Amtrak was $100 cheaper but both ways we would be without a car. I just got new tires so we are set.

Pammie, I'm sending Michelle over to clean your house. (Isn't that nice of me to do?). You are going to make one cute little graduate.

Have a great day.

Hello All,

It's Friday :0) :0) :0) Thank goodness . . . I have survived yet another week.

TracyinKS, I was able to "just say no" to ice cream last night, you have inspired me.

Laura, you are so lucky . . . I really wanted a dimpled baby with dimples on the elbows, knees, behind and definitely on the cheeks, lol. Dimples are the cutest.

My son has one dimple on one cheek. Everyone assumes he got it from me but it was actually the result of freshly waxed floor, windbreaker suit and the corner of a coffee table at around 2 years old. It didn't break skin but he had a hematoma underneath and it eventually left a dimple under the skin - it looks authentic, lol. I hope those proofs are adorable, I am sure they will be.

Michelle, have loads of fun at the Springsteen concert. If you are only 1.5 hours from Hershey, PA then you are really not too far from me. I didn't realize anyone else was up here in my general area :0)

Pamela, I am still soo excited for you. Graduation at long last, this is the really fun part.

Terry, We eat variations of that recipe for salad several times a week. My family is Turkish (which maybe some of you may have guessed from FB photos). Ask anyone Turkish and they will say this is Turkish salad and the Greeks will say it is Greek, lol. It is certainly the same with baklava, but that is even more of a battle.

Sometimes we use mozarella instead of feta or even forgoe the cheese. The kalamata olives are there at every meal but always on the side. Instead of oregano or black pepper we put in a dash of red pepper flakes. We usually chop up a little bit of parsley and lettuce in there as well, but very little proportionately and very finely chopped.

One variation on this salad that I absolutely love is to roast half a small eggplant in the oven with a little olive oil on the side that is cut . . . when it is nice and soft I peel it and mash it with a fork or chop it in small cubes and add it into the salad. It is really awesome this way.

I also sometimes add mashed avocado with garlic into this salad and it is kind of like a very veggie intensive version of guacamole where you get just a taste of guacamole but not quite so much fat. We had this last night with chile/lime crusted tilapia and corn on the cob . . . absolutely delicious and relatively healthy if you are careful on the ingredients.

Heather,

I saw your FB pix...that for clarifying. I was hoping that I didn't offend you (like ever in the past). Are you Turkish? My mom went to high school in Ankra (sp) for 3 years because gpa was an American Diplomat for the military.

I love the salad, and variations of it. Of course, in my house, we use minced garlic, som balsalmic or red wine vinegar, oregeno and basil. I could go for some now!

Heather - would you share your chile/lime tilapia recipe?? Sounds wonderful!

Well, today's chore is to get on the phone with insurance and hospitals.... time for inpatient intervention. :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
