Awaiting the Start of my New Life

Hello! My name is Melissa and I'm hoping to have Lap Band surgery in January or February 2009. After several information sessions and meetings, I met with Dr. Davis's office at Valley Hospital in NJ. I started the 6 months of weigh-ins in August and will be done January 7, 2009.

I'm 24 years old with a BMI of 49 and 115 lbs to lose. I'm scared, excited, nervous, thrilled... etc...

I also have PCOS which hopefully will be alleviated through weight loss.

I'm submitting to the Horizon BCBC NJ approval process in January, and I pray I get approved! I don't really know what to expect during the insurance approval process. My worst fear is to be denied after all of this time and preparation.

I just keep praying that I get approved.

Anyways, thank you all for being here!

Always,

Melissa

Hi Melissa and welcome to the forum!

Everything you said you're feeling is 100% normal. I believe you'll be able to find a lot of helpful information on this forum throughout your journey, including insurance nerves.. or even if you face denial, many people have information on appeals, etc. I was self-pay, so I can't help you there.. but you're real lucky your insurance even considers it!)

Just from your BMI, I believe BCBS would approve you, so you may be worried for nothing on that front.
