Dec 19 band date

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I was banded Dec 18th, no problems, no complications. Two weeks after banding, I had to go off my BP meds....didn't need them anymore. How cool is that.

Now looking at my first appointment 21 Jan. I'm down 23 pounds now hoping for another few before weigh in, still getting things stuck (especially chicken). But I have so much energy, I'm walking my 10,000 steps +! Couldn't be better.

Hope everyone of you is doing well. This is the greatest thing we can do for ourselves! Can you imagine our Bandiversary stories????

Hey Dec. 19th Bandsters,

Hope everyone if well. My surgery went well. No problems. Still pulls a bit at times in port site. Lost 20 lbs since the 19th. No fill yet. I have to wait until my Jan. 27 appt. The doc did put 3cc's in at time of surgery. I have started my hyalgan shots in the knee for 5 weeks and hope to be able to start walking soon. I fell on my knee that I had surgery on in Oct. so that was another set back for me walking. Please pray the shots work. I have got to get to exercising. Hope everyone has a great week. :sneaky:

Hello all 12/19/08 bandsters!! I doing good. My postop MD visit will be 1/26 and I hope to get my first fill at that time. I had restriction until the swelling went down after surgery, but none now that I can tell. I went back to work 1/5, my online class resumed 1/6, and haven't had must time to post. I haven't lost any weight this past week, only 15 pounds total. I spoke with the nurse from MD office and she said that was in line with what they expect immediately post op, but I was hoping for more!!

Yes the weight loss does seem slow, doesn't it? I was thinking it would go faster too.

One way to keep myself from getting depressed about those 2 to 3 pound/week loses is I have charted my lose so far, and then plotted them with a target line so that I can physically see my progress. And I can look forward to where I hope to be in a few months. If your interested I can tell more.

My first appt is next week, so we'll see what they say...

I actually just found this thread today!

I was also banded on Dec. 19. I'm doing pretty good. I go back to my doctor on Jan. 27 and he said we'd talk about getting a fill then.

As of this morning, I've lost 30.2 pounds, but 14.8 of that was on the pre-op diet. I have 63 more pounds to go!

I'm still on pureed foods but I'm hoping my doctor will move me on to solids when I see him. I haven't been too hungry yet. I just hope it doesn't get bad before my appt.!

Welcome Mudbug!

It looks like the Dec 19th bandsters are right about the same place when it comes to weight loss. I know that I don't want to lose wt too fast and have a lot of loose skin, but at the same time my vanity wants to be thin immediately!! I guess I can never be happy!! :)

Had my first fill on Friday, piece of cake.....

I got 3cc's - my band was pretty loose (I could tell because I could eat anything)

Today is my first day back on solid foods. I'm surprised that I cannot even finish the 4oz of food per meal. I get totally full before it's all gone.........amazing!!!!!!

I also noticed this morning I could button my size 16 pants I haven't worn in 6-8 months!

Teri,

Congrats on the size 16! I'm still afraid of trying on my jeans, of any size. It's great to hear peoples good news stories!!!!

I went to the doc yesterday, and came away with no fill. I am happy about that, still struggle with the food challenges, but I'm getting the eating down. 1st rule: eat the sliders first. The dietian told me that if your meal has soft foods like yogurt, soft fruit, anything that will slide right on through, eat that before the chuncky Protein. That way the soft won't push the chunky through, thus making you hungry. WOW it works, I tried it today and no worries.

I have an appt in 3 weeks, by then I will probably need a fill.

....60 lbs. to go to goal

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
