Why liquids and then soft foods after my fill?

I had my first fill yesterday. The dr said liquids for 2 days and then soft foods for 2 days. I should have asked him why but I did not. Does anyone know why?? I passed the drinking Water test in his office after the fill.

As with the surgery the stomache can swell from the fluid being added to the band. The liquids gives your stomache time to adjust to the new amount of fluid in the band, gives time for the sewelling to go down so you dont get "stuck" or irritate the stomache even more. My doctor does 2 days liquid, 2 mushies, 2 soft. 2 days of adkins shakes does wonders for kicking the weight loss back up so I dont really mind
