How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

AAAARRRGGGHH!!!!! So I was having intermittent heartburn and of course I shared this with my surgeon, who immediately thought that I must be to tight, even though my portions are pretty good and I hadn't had any issues with food going down (until the dreaded leftover chicken episode). So she orders a same day esophogiogram(spell check) and that confirms her intitial diagnosis. So you know what that meant and unfill:eek:. I was completley freaked out:scared2:, thinking that she was going to remove all 6cc from my 10cc band, but thank the Gods that she only took out 3cc's (which still had me pretty stressed). Good news = no more heartburn, and my portions are still down to about 1/2 to no more than 3/4 of a cup per meal. Wish me luck  because I'm gonna need it!

Hi Novembers,

It's been a while since I checked in, and I'm getting motivated again after catching up on the posts. I am also at a plateau, but mostly of my own doing. I haven't exercised or really watched what I ate since June. Summer is hard! It's time to get back to my exercise schedule and watching what I eat. Cindy

Hi all--Just wanted to let you know that re committing myself to the original plan of exercise, tracking meals, Water, Protein first has really paid off. 15 pounds in the last month. Please update my weight 229.4.

In four more pounds I will be at 225. This is a milestone for me because the last time I was 225 pounds was the first day I realized I was overweight. I took my 9yr old granddaughter to an amusement ride and the operator wouldn't let me on because I was over 220 and would not let her on because she was too short. We both cried. I promised next year I would lose the weight and she would be tall enough. I kept gaining weight. I felt like I lied to her, because I kept gaining weight. We never got to go on ride.

Now she is 22 with a baby of her own, but I'm still going to treat her to an amusement park when I get to goal. Strange the things that motivate us.

Keep on losing all you sweet Notorious Novembers.

I took a spur of the moment trip to Africa to visit my husband after hearing I might need the surgery and about the possible cancer as I was freaking out initially and running away seemed best at the time!! I had a Pet/Ct scan before leaving but did not wait for or call for results. Going away was good for me as I relaxed, calmed myself and almost forgot until returning. I returned to a letter from the oncologist, who I had not yet even seen, with a tentative surgery date for Aug 10th based on reports and phone messages from the hospital to come for pre-op testing. Needless to say I was freaked out again on Sun when I got home!! I am somewhat better after seeing the oncologist. I rescheduled surgery for Sept 3rd. I am seeing my son in NY this next wk and have plans for the wk after as well and need to make arrangements before just running out and having surgery! He believes it to be early cervical cancer and is doing a radical hysterectomy but the good news was he is doing it laproscopically robotic so recovery should be faster and easier. I went for my fill app but did not get one due to my Africa trip. I ate so much while there but did not gain. I really need a fill, but am thinking I should probably wait until after all this surgery is over. What do you guys think??? I don't want to start gaining weight. Some has been stress eating but my appetite is definitely much bigger and I have to stop myself at meals!

Oh honey, what a stressful time you're having! I'd wait on your fill till after your surgery, you sure don't wanna risk having to PB while you've got stitches. My thoughts are with you!

Call you Lab Band doctor. Most will do a complete unfill for surgery. Best of luck to you...

I need help. I have been struggling for the past two months. No weightloss, despite doing what I should. I am ready to get a complete unfill and just give up. It is so frustrating to go thru the surgery and not get the results you hope and pray for. I knew mine would be slow, because I have a permanent disability with a spinal fusion and both total knee replacements. I cannot do much exercise to help it along. But, now I am just ready to give up and go back to my old life, where my DH didn't complain about my NOT eating. Please pray for me. I know you all understand what I am going thru and I can speak my true feelings. I am at a crossroads...who knows where I will end up. My surgeon is not a nice man, and of no help to me whatsoever. Fills no sooner than 2 months apart. I have had 3 fills in 8 months. A lot of good has come out of it...fewer meds, diet controlled diabetes, some weightloss, but not what I was hoping for. Some of you have done so well...what else can I do?

I go through spell where I don't lost anything either, everything I've heard says that you're body has to realign itself. So I lose for about 10 days out of the month, and then nothing for about 20 days, that's been consistent since I had the band put in. I think 40+ lbs since your surgery is pretty darned good! The trick is to not get frustrated, and know that it will all kick in again. For instance, i haven't lost anything for about three weeks and starting yesterday, can't eat anything, just Protein Shakes, so I know this week I'll lose 5 or so lbs. Just keep doing whatever you can....can you take short walks? I just got my butt back to the gym a few weeks ago, hard to commit during the summer when the kids are around and always having stuff to do. As far as your surgeon--blech---can you find someone else to do your fills? Mine was pretty aggressive, since your best weight loss is in the first year. Maybe it's time to look someone else up and see if you can't get some help?

I have noticed that the weightloss slows down after awhile. As far as the Dr, I would suggest that you consider finding a different Dr to do your fills if you are not satisfied with the one you are now using. It does make a difference in the progress that you make if you have a supportive physician.Keep hanging in there and don't give up it is worth it............

Glammaw I was so frustated 2 months ago, I wondered the same thing. Then I started logging everything I put in my mouth, exactly how much Water, Protein first, ect... I was just plain starving. I made an appt with the Dr. and low and below I have a 14CC band not 10cc. So he suggested another fill. I would call and talk to your nurse and ask her the size of your band and the amount of Fluid in it. Maybe you just need another fill. My Dr insists on at least waiting every 8 weeks between fills, he says there is a less of risk of the band slipping and also corroding into you stomach. If he is still impossible to deal with, check for other Fill drs in your area. Hang in there, I think you are doing great so far.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
