fun thread -- names

Recommended Posts

The morning radio show I listen to in the mornings had an interesting topic yesterday. They were talking about last names, and if anyone does what their name says. You know, if anyone named Baker was a baker or things like that.

I thought that would make a fun topic here, so here goes.

My last name is Webb, and I spin as one of my many hobbies. Spin as in spinning wool, not the bike thing. Also, I work with the internet and networks, so that cracks me up too.

My younger sister changed her name when she got married, so she went from being a Webb to an Earl (some people pronounce URL as Earl)...

The CO of my ex-H's Navy Squadron was named Cosmos. Yup, Captian Cosmos. that is one of my all time favorite name.s

My last name is Peter.

Uh... I don't think I better add to that!! :)

OH! Besides the "gutter" thoughts, I will say I tend to "peter out" on projects... I start out gung ho, and then my enthusiasm just sort of... well... peters out..

:D

ha ha you are all so funny! My last name is Hailer. It is German. I traced its meaning back as far a I could. Going backwards meaning doctor, to heal, and before that to castrate. HA HA the funny part is I just stopped working in a pediatriac office where I would assist physicans with circumcisons. Try getting a date when your last name means "to castrate"!

Okay, I had it REAL bad. My maiden name was Mountjoy. Not only that, my cousins last name is Lusby. We got it from every angle. Heather is a joy to mount or a mountain of joy or almond joy and on and on and on. LOL. Now it's Joyner. Hey atleast we kept the Joy in our marriage. LOL.

This isn't last name related but a fun twist of names. I had a boyfriend from long ago who made up names constantly. I worked at a little sandwich shop called "Schlotzsky's" and he called it "Shitzsky's" and there was one fella that I used to work with in a grocery store. His name was Joe Supulski? or Supinsky? or something like that and this boyfriend always referred to him as "Joe Suppository" I'm guessing he got that alot, anyway!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
