I'm new here. I just made the decision to go for it with the lap band. I'm a 31 year old mom of 8 month old twin girls. I've always struggled with my weight, but after a 3 year battle with infertility and now finally having my gorgeous little girls, I'm ready to DO something about my weight. I want to be around for a long long time with them, and I have got to get my weight under control.

I've dieted for years, and it's never worked, so I'm hoping the lap band is the solution for me! I have my first informational meeting on 11/20, and hope to be able to get insurance to cover the procedure.

Welcome! And congrats on your decision to have the lapband. I have struggled with infertility for about 3 years too and the whole time knew I needed to be working on my weight while we were pursuing infertility treatments. It started to come down to us doing IVF and I personally wasn't ready to do that, especially at my heaviest weight I had ever been. So we decided to put the babies on hold and concentrate on this...I was banded Sept 18th of this year. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet also. So between my band and my previous diet, I have lost 50 lbs! I can already tell my cycles have regulated and I am hoping we are able to get pregnant on our own when we are ready to try again.

Anyway, good luck to you on your journey!! It is the best thing I have done thus far! Take care!!

I had my lapband 6 weeks after having a c-section with my first son... i actually had no problems getting preggo... got preggo the 1st month trying... but i did use a fertility monitor thinking it might take a while due to my weight and thyroid... congrats to you! I love my lapband and you owe it to your lil ones to be thin and full of energy! My lil man is now 5 months and i cant wait to be the thin active mom i should be! My sleep apnea is killing me and i cant wait for it to be gone!!! Im down 30 pnds since my surgery and 55 since i had my baby May 29th!! Good Luck!!:w00t:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
