Looking for people like me to share their stories.

I am looking to connect with people like me or pretty close to it. I am female, 26 years old, starting weight around 250, surgery date was 7/30/08. I want to hear your stories and how you're coming along.

Hey, I'm 30 y/o have 2 kids and was banded on 8/26. Weight was 263. I had my first and only fill on 10/07/08. 3cc was placed. I've lost 27 lbs with moderate restriction. Before my fill I could not eat as much but I was hungry again in two hours. Now I stay full longer. I go back NOV 11th for another fill. I look at how much some people have lost and think I have lost enough but then again some people had saline put in their bands during surgery. I haven't had any trouble as far as pain or vomitting. I guess it's going fine.:)

While we aren't similar in age, we are in starting weight, so I thought I would share my stats with you. Starting weight 7/07 was 252. Had to do a 6 month diet for insurance, and lost 10 lbs on that as of 1/08. Surgery approved for 3/08 and started a liquid pre-op diet. Was on that 3 weeks instead of 2 because I caught a cold and my surgery was moved back a week, not enough time to stop and restart. Lost 25 more lbs on that. The rest of my weight loss has been post op. I had one fill at around 6 weeks, 3ccs, but had to have unfill the next day as water was giving me indigestion. Removed 1.5 ccs. Two weeks later in the office removed another .5 ccs, and I was doing okay. Doctor talked me out of a fill as I was still losing but at next appointment I talked him into a small one. I was still losing but my quantity was rising and I was hungrey sooner. He put in 1.5ccs. Checked my fluid amount and it was about 2 ccs. So I have about 3.5 ccs total. I have lost (by my home scale--doc's scale is about 4-5 pounds heavier) 94 pounds. I weighed 156 this morning. I hope that helps, and good luck on your journey.

Hello Shasta,

I'm 56 and was banded on 7/03/08. My starting weight was 270. I've had 4 fills, yesterday was my fourth fill. I have 7cc now in a 10cc Realize band. I've lost 35 lbs. I've been exercizing alot and doing weights so I've been loosing inches and have only lost a couple of pounds in the last 4 weeks. I'm hoping with the fill yesterday I'll start loosing again soon. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and I know I'll eventually get to my goal weight.
