I am thinking about having the lap procedure done @Jfk by the same Dr. you used. I have my first appointment next Thurs. Can you tell me how it went for you? How was the process? Are you glad you did it?

Hi MOMFL,

Sorry for the delay in this response. I was away for a few days.

I'm sure you will love Dr. Larson and the staff. They are extremely friendly, helpful and supportive. You will meet everyone on your first visit and they will explain the process. It's a bit of a drive to Lake Worth, but worth it. JFK Hospital was also very good. With the LapBand, you'll stay one night. The hospital just received the Certificate of Excellence which is great news. I have had 1 fill and that is not bad at all. I'll get my second fill the Monday before Thanksgiving. Great for watching those calories. As you can see, I have lost 20 pounds. I had hoped for more, but I'm still adjusting my life style. The band is only one tool. You do have to change habits also. They have a support group meeting once a month at JFK. The next one is Nov. 17th. You will find this very helpful. People come that are banded and some that are not banded yet. I think you'll really like Dr. Larson and his staff. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask. Also let me know what you decide. Godd Luck!!!

Carolyn

Hi- I live in Stuart and was banded in December, 2008. I'm still trying to figure things out, but the weight loss is going pretty well. I also am tech-challenged and am pretty poor at this.

I'd be happy to hear back from you.

Sorry for the delay. I was so glad to hear from you. Hope you are having success. Do you ever go to the Support Group Meetings at JFK? I believe the next one is March 16th. It's nice to know there are other banders in the Treasure Coast. Hope you are very success. I will respond sooner to your replies. Good Luck.

Carolyn

It looks like there are 4 of us in the Treasure Coast so far. I'm sure we will have more once the Doctors at Martin start banding. I'd love to have a local support group.

Best wishes to all of you and let's stay in touch!!

Hi everyone! I am a fairly new bandster. I had my surgery March 2, 2009 by Dr. Vaughan and had a great experience.

Realize Band 3-2-09

21 days post op

18 pounds lost since surgery!

I won't have my first fill until April 7.

I would LOVE to be part of a support group. Any other interested members? We could pick the closest spot in the middle of everyone.

Peace,

Laura

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
