1st Fill Done !

Recommended Posts

Well I made it through that. I have lost 17lbs and I was surprized. I hadn't weighed for two weeks prior. I had a 255 goal and weighed in at 254!!!

I can feel a difference with 2cc's in my 4cc band. I can't wait to pull this weight off....

The local for this fill was a little painful but not bad. I didn't pay a cent at Hamilton Diagnostic. They filed insurance for me...

Hey, bobby! it wasn't so bad was it? I got my first fill today and I feel fine. Yea, the local anesthetic hurt a little but there was nothing to it! It took less than 5 minutes... amazing, huh?

I am so excited because I've got another "new beginning!" I was getting frustrated because I plateued at only losing 18 pounds, but now I am on my way again! YEAH!!! :o

Hi. I also had a fill today! I am 5 1/2 weeks post op and have been doing very well, but have been very hungry these last two weeks. In fact, last night, in anticipation of a fill, I had my first meal with steak. It was delicious! Hopefully, this fill (1 cc) will do the trick.

The fill went very smoothly. No problems and no pain.

I'm on liquid for 2 days and then mush for 2 days.

Hope this fill works for all of us!

Mary:)

Me too, me too! I had my first fill yesterday (one cc). I felt very tight at first, but tonight I was able to eat almost a half cup of soft food. Let's hope we all get what we need from our first fills!

Congrats Bobby,

I had my fill done on the 17th of last month. Things have changed alot for me. I can only do about 1 cup of food and the fill has limited my food choices. I used to eat bread, rice, and lots of other things I shouldn't. Now I cannot eat any of that unless I want to vomit. I hope yours goes as well. And I hope everyones restriction lasts a while. This was my second fill and I now have 7cc in my 11cm band that holds 10cc. Who did your fill? I had Dr. V something or other and it took him 35 minutes to stick my port. It wasn't a very good experience. I believe I will ask for someone else the next time.

Good Luck!

That's exactly right!! Each and every adjustment is a chance to kickstart the losing again. Isn't it amazing--the band will be there for us FOR EVER and we'll always have another chance!

I love it...now if I can only get on that first-fill bandwagon so I can see what it's all about! :P:)

Earliest possible date, October 16. More likely, November sometime. Waiting, waiting... :o

Alexandra,

I waited two months for my first fill. It is hard to keep your chin up but just remember that you are still not eating the way you did pre-band and you will probably never go back to that again. So even if you never get a fill at least those pounds are gone forever. Your time will come but in the meantime enjoy what you have already accomplished, which is a great deal.

So now I am eating real foods (4 days post 1st fill of 1.5 ccs) and I can still eat bread and about 1 cup of food. HOWEVER, I feel full for a longer period of time. If I can just stick to 1 cup of food 3 times a day and NOT snack, I can do this.

BTW, today, I am wearing a pair of pants I haven't worn for 18 months. WOOHOO!!!

I had my first fill (2 months post-op), and mine was terrrible. I was stuck twice, once just trying to feel for the port, second time under ultrasound, and finally had to go to the hospital, get a local anethesia and four more pokes before the needle finally went in. I don't blame the doctor, he really tried and my port is under my left breast, and he puts his patient's ports in the sternum, but it was awful. Today I am VERY sore and swollen. I got 3.5 cc so I hope when I go back on food that there is some restriction, because I'm not looking forward to my next fill.

My first fill was Monday, 10/6. The procedure itself was fine. He gave me 1.6 ccs. I felt fine initially, but later was just miserable. Nausea, unrelenting gas and pain that felt like I was wearing pants three sizes too small. After vomiting that night, I went back the next day and am now at 1.4 ccs. Definitely better.

I had/have some pain in the general vicinity of the band. The doctor said that is normal...there's some stomach swelling, etc. To be honest, my post-fill recovery has been a little worse than my post-op!! My post-op recovery was unusually easy.

Doing mostly liquids, but I've been able to hold down a little mushy food. Too much and I get that crazy gas thing that's relieved only by a UB. (Unproductive burp!) The feeling is uncomfortable enough that I don't push the envelope on food.< /p>

I have dinner plans tonight and a lunch tomorrow. I thought about canceling both, but decided I would probably be fine if I just went someplace that serves Soup.

Anyway, I'm sharing for those of you who haven't had a fill. I'd never read a first-fill experience like mine.

Elizabeth

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
