trouble with weight loss pre-surgery

Recommended Posts

My Dr make you loss 10% of weight prior to surgery. I have almost 30 lbs to lose, I have lost 16lb so far and it has been hard.

I have had to have the surgery post poned once all ready because I didn't make it, i have been trying and the Dr. now sees if I lose another 8lbs I can have it done. But I'm having problems with that as I can't take the medifast as I have a very senstive stomach and it has only been coming of at about 1lb a week. i have explain this to the Dr and she says you need to lose it or postpone and they are no help on how to lose.

Any suggestions on how I can bost my weight loss quickly???

I have been on a lean and green diet for 8 weeks and it is getting really old an i need to lose this last 8 lbs in then next 2 wks as I have been rescheduled for Oct 21st.

I'm begining to wonder if this all worth all this stress!!!!!!!!!!!

:tt2:

Susan.. I would for sure recommend to Protein Drinks a day one for Breakfast and one for lunch.. cut out Snacks and for dinner do a no carb meal .. example chicken and brocolior green beans.. you will feel hungry the first few days, but your body will adapt to it.. I lost 14 lbs in less then a month this way.. My doctor did not make me loose weight before surgery but I tell you what it was a plus.. Just stick to it and dont give up hope.. my Protein Drink of choice was the slim fast low carb.. or Atkins advantage.. the only thing between them is the slim fast has more Protein and i felt like it held me over longer.. my doctor also said if you still felt hungry after dinner you could have a 3rd Protein Shake, but i tried to avoid that

I did a liquid diet-protein drinks (low carbs, low sugar) and yogurt (LF, LS)

and drank 64+ oz Water a day and dropped weight fats..And i walked 2+ miles a day on the treadmill.

My recommendation is to find another surgeon. The 10% weight loss requirement is not supported by data. It's arbitrary and, for many people, unnecessary. There are plenty of good surgeons who don't require it and would be very happy with your 16 lb. loss.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
