Any Credit Valley Clinic Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if there are any other Credit Valley Clinic bandsters out there. Surely I'm not the only one! I would be intersted to hear about other people's experiences with this clinic - both good and bad!

The surgeons at Credit Valley Clinic are Dr. Grant Moffat (my surgeon), Dr. Vitaly Bard, and Dr. Neil Woolfson. They operate out of the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. Their clinic is located beside the hospital at 2300 Eglinton Ave W.

Okay thanks, have never seen any of those surgeons names but perhaps they are just starting out. I'm not sure if you belong to the yahoo group Canadian Lapbanders or not but you might find some on there that have used those surgeons.

You can join by clicking on this link. It's good for an added support as well as lbtalk.

I met with Dr Woolfson a few weeks ago, I've had a lifelong realationship with this hopsital and the doctors there and love my family doctor at Credit Valley but I wasn't sure about the aftercare program there. Plus I now live in Toronto so I've also met with a consultant at TLBC/Slimband. How have you found them after the surgery? Are they flexible in appointment to get a fill or available if you have a question. What do they offer in terms of their aftercare program, the surgeon said it was complete but didn't really go into detail.

Hi Tinakins;

Sorry for the delay in answering your questions but I haven't been on the board for a few days. The Credit Valley Clinic holds clinics every Wednesday to do check-ups and fills. They said that if you can't make it on a Wednesday they can try and schedule you into the doctor's regular office hours if there is space available. The clinic has a relatively new Patient Coordinator and I think she is still learning the ropes. I have had quick response to any questions that I have asked via email. I have enquired whether they are planning on setting up patient aftercare information/support sessions and I was told that they were going to. I have not received any information saying that they have done this yet. I am going to enquire about this with the nurse when I am in for my second fill on December 3rd. Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm just starting the process for a Nov 19th surgery date with Dr. Woolfson...

I see you did it back in 2008?

Office has moved and I'm sure their is new staff on board...If you're still around to chat I would love to know your experience with Credit Valley Clinic.

Thanks!

Hi Hopee;

Yes, I was banded at the CVC in September 2008. It is hard to believe that it has been over two years already! I lost 60 pounds during my first year and have stayed at that weight (+/- 1 or 2 pounds) since then. I must admit that I am not very good at making all the necessary healthy eating choices and exercising as much as I should, but the band is still there to regulate my food intake so that I don't overdo it too much! As I'm sure you have heard from several people already, the band is only a tool to help you on your weight loss journey - the journey to your goal weight requires a lot of work and support along the way. I would highly recommend that you join the CVC support group and attend their monthly meetings. Although I have missed the past two meetings I am hoping to attend the upcoming meeting at the clinic on November 17th. If you are available you should try to attend - you will be able to get lots of pointers about how to cope with the post-surgery period and what to expect in the next few months.

All in all, I would say that I have been very happy with my association with the CVC and don't regret opting for the surgery at all. Hope to see you on the 17th.

Regards,

Kingbird

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
