WHY are people voting for McCain?

Recommended Posts

One who has, should give. They shouldn't be forced to or required to give. What you did isn't socialism in any sense of the word; it's charity. If people choose not to give, it's not up to us to require them to do it. In both cases, a transaction takes place; in one, you give. In the other, it is taken from you.

What you did is right and commendable, but how would you feel if someone withdrew that money and those resources from you just because they felt you had adequate means to give (whether you felt you did or not is inconsequential -- what matters is their arbitrary definition of your wealth)?

ya know - i struggle with the charity vs patriotism, because too much is muddled...what do you say when daddy bush asks for those to help? who would do it,, cause it certainly can't be forced.??

let "them" take care of themselves.... thats rich, we send money overseas; & have families here struggling.....sorry, democrat on steroids and am grateful my mom taught her children to give .... jump in your bomb shelters....

more like 37%.

So how much higher would the government have to hike your percentage before y'all were like "woah...that's not fair"?

Ok, then....in theory, how much can the government tax the wealthiest 1% of Americans before it's not fair to them?

I'm not picking on you, Lulu....you're just one of the few that can debate the actual question without calling Bush "the devil", or how Palin is a nazi, Obama is a muslim, etc. Hey, I think I'll make that a new thread question.

luluc, can you provide clarification on your statement that "DH and i are maxed as far as what uncle sam can take from us in taxes. we pay qtrly, and it's an obscene amt." Did you mean you can't afford for Uncle Sam to take more from you, or did you mean you're at the top end of the tax bracket? I was reading it as the former, but based on your subsequent posts, I'm thinking it was the latter?

Really? Elizabeth Hasselbeck thinks that? Those ladies on the view are outta control! First it was Rosie O'D claiming that fundamental Christianity and Judaism were as dangerous as Muslim fundamentalists (as well as saying that the US government was behind the terrorism on 9/11). It's sad that Hasselbeck can't be as intelligent as Rosie.

What are you talking about? The person that said Hasselbeck needs to replace Bill O'Rielly hit the nail on the head. Hasellbeck is just as out of touch as McCain and Palin. Oh but Palin is so much more out of touch than everyone put together. She is such a slap in the face of our political system. Not because she is a women, but for so many reasons that I just can't put into this post. What was McCain thinking? Does he really think this country is that stupid? OMG! Oh and I think using religion to promote violence is wrong no matter what religion it is just to adress your post "plain."

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
