weight loss pre op on liquid diet

I have been on liquid diet since monday morning and the scales have moved 8 pounds. I keep seeming to think my scale is off lol.... Did anyone have this sort of weight loss doing liquid diet? Im assuming most of it would be water weight as I have been drinking a ton of water too. I am so nervous that the docs scale will weight heavier and since im borderline bmi to do the outpatient surgery, im really nervous. Also i have one liver enzyme always come back slightly higher at just above normal, but no one can find any cause behind it and im scared that might move my surgery date too. Im getting really nervous that the date is approaching fast. Tomorrow is my last day of work. Any advice or comments are appreciated

Great I lost my stupid Ticker thing and it took me forever to figure out how to get it on here.

Amy633 the preop diet depends, I believe, on your preop weight and your bloodwork. If you didn't have to do one, just be glad! :)

I should be glad but it doesn't seem like anybody getting the lapband from this DR. has to do a liquid diet. Should I think its BAD not to do one.

Here another thing I have to shower the night before AND the day of surgery with antibac. soap did anybody else have to do this? I would be offended but they told this to a class of us. So it's not just my stinky butt.

Yes the showering is standard. Cuts down on infections.

and if your doc hasn't found a preop diet important, then you don't need to worry about it (unless you don't like or trust your surgeon)

No I don't have any reason to doubt her but everybody on here has to do it. I'am just scared and looking to see if I should do the liquid diet on my own. Like if I get someone whos going to say I know somebody who didn't do the pre op diet and they DIED!! LOL

no that won't happen! Just be glad you don't have to do it! :)

please i need help with choosing a drink for my pre-op! how is it exactly that you are doing your pre-op diet just the protein shake and lots of water or is a sensible meal okay in between the shakes???? im worried that like many others at the time of surgery i find out that i have a fatty liver and get no surgery... (my worst nightmare)

thanks for all your replys restless monkey it does make me feel better just to talk about it. Get the crazy thoughts out of my head!!

Sweetie79 I'm sure your doc has done bloodwork on you. Judging by that and your weight he (she) can tell if you have a large or fatty liver. If your doc doesn't feel you need a preop diet, you probably don't. If your doc wants you on one, he will most likely tell you exactly what he wants you to do (they are all different!) If you are worried about your liver, call your doc's office and ask if they want you on a diet. When is your surgery scheduled? You really don't have to fret if your doc isn't worried about it!

I understand! There is SO much info on here (and on the 'net) and so much of it conflicts, it's hard to know what to do! :)

I hope you love your band. I love mine already and I don't even have any restriction yet!

Good luck!

apparently I can have the fattyest liver in town and it won't matter because I don't have a pre-op diet but if I did I would choose a protein powder with no artifical sweetners which you can find at the health food stores. because even though I'm fat I still care about what goes in my fat body
