weight loss pre op on liquid diet

Recommended Posts

I dont have to do a pre-op diet. My only restriction is no sweets and no fast food. I wonder why I don't have to do the liquid diet and so many others do? My Surgery date is 9/17/08

Amy633 the preop diet depends, I believe, on your preop weight and your bloodwork. If you didn't have to do one, just be glad! :)

I should be glad but it doesn't seem like anybody getting the lapband from this DR. has to do a liquid diet. Should I think its BAD not to do one.

Here another thing I have to shower the night before AND the day of surgery with antibac. soap did anybody else have to do this? I would be offended but they told this to a class of us. So it's not just my stinky butt.

Yes the showering is standard. Cuts down on infections.

and if your doc hasn't found a preop diet important, then you don't need to worry about it (unless you don't like or trust your surgeon)

No I don't have any reason to doubt her but everybody on here has to do it. I'am just scared and looking to see if I should do the liquid diet on my own. Like if I get someone whos going to say I know somebody who didn't do the pre op diet and they DIED!! LOL

Sweetie79 I'm sure your doc has done bloodwork on you. Judging by that and your weight he (she) can tell if you have a large or fatty liver. If your doc doesn't feel you need a preop diet, you probably don't. If your doc wants you on one, he will most likely tell you exactly what he wants you to do (they are all different!) If you are worried about your liver, call your doc's office and ask if they want you on a diet. When is your surgery scheduled? You really don't have to fret if your doc isn't worried about it!

I understand! There is SO much info on here (and on the 'net) and so much of it conflicts, it's hard to know what to do! :)

I hope you love your band. I love mine already and I don't even have any restriction yet!

Good luck!

apparently I can have the fattyest liver in town and it won't matter because I don't have a pre-op diet but if I did I would choose a Protein Powder with no artifical sweetners which you can find at the health food stores. because even though I'm fat I still care about what goes in my fat body

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
