On my own for a week and going crazy with boredom and loneliness

My DH left this morning for a 7-day mountain bike/primitive camping tour around the Grand Canyon. It's just me and the dog from now until next Sunday night. I'm currently out of work, working from home job-searching. So I don't see people during the day. Or at night! I'm going nutso. We have a very close marriage, no kids, not many friends - and I've already called them all and it's only been 8 hours since I dropped him off. I've also called my Mom, my sister, one of my brothers ... I keep wandering the house, room to room, trying to find something to light on. And the dog keeps following me around (her: "sit down in one place, will you! I need to lay down somewhere!"). Dog and I went for a long walk this morning, I gave her a bath ... I'm at loose ends with Dave around. I know today will probably be the worst day, but I won't even hear from him 'til he's mid-point through his trip and back somewhere there's cell coverage.

I've got books to read, not interested. Got a bracelet I'm working on, not interested. TV, blah. Gardening, nah. Errands, none. Friends, none. It's not like we're newlyweds, fer crying out loud - we've been together for 12 years, married for nearly 6. I'm 46, I should be able to entertain myself for a week, right? *I'm* disgusted with myself, and if I send him one more text message I'll probably get banned from Verizon.

How to get over this???? Two months ago I would have ordered a pizza and settled down in front of the TV for a movie fest. Now, no pizza, and it's only 4 in the afternoon - definitely too early to go to bed!

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH.

Thanks for reading this far. You brave soul.

LOL, I feel you. My husband works nights and my son went to my parents for 2 weeks a few months back. I was so lost and booooooorrrreeeedddd.

And if T-Mobile didn't ban me, Verizon won't ban you.

I sympathize. DH goes to his parents for the weekend every once in a while (2 hours away).. he just left about 7 hours ago today, and I'm already laying in bed and wishing he was back. His trips are normally only 1-2 days but I feel antsy without him.

Hope you make it through the week, especially not working, your days must feel very long

Spend more time reading LBT this week!

Thanks for the sympathy, you guys. :w00t: Much better today, heck much better yesterday after actually getting to talk to him. Of course now he's incommunicado for another 3-4 days while he's out in the wilderness, but at least I know he made it to the starting point, alive!

Fairy, I'm not sure I could spend *more* time on LBT than I already do, but very good suggestion nonetheless. :scared2:

Tomatogirl, glad to hear T-Mobile was generous, I'm sure Verizon will happily watch me use all my minutes - and more! :)

Off to search "New Posts" ... LOL

Well, most of my suggestions are on you nah list....lol

Bike ride?

Movies- REAL movie theatre not dvd..

Have a Laptop? Go to Panera Bread or Starbucks and do your websearching there.

Better yet, do it at B&N and maybe read a magazine there.(I used to hate the fact that you could read the books there and not pay for them but I have done this now while waiting on a friend).

Get a hiar cut

Walk the mall?

((If gas wasn't so expensive)) I used to love getting in the car and just going...with or without a friend.....stop for dinner....then come back
