Givin' up the ice cream

So I finally decided to give ice cream the boot, or at least keep it down to once a week. For the last 4 or 5 months I've eaten ice cream just about every night. It hasn't been a problem but I'm worried that it will be. So, hard as it is, I'm giving it up. Last night went fine, hoping to keep it up. Anyone else have anything that they are eating regularly that they know they shouldn't and want to join me in the boycott? :crying:

Well, I had to twist DH's arm to NOT buy any more ice cream. So, ice cream is gone...sherbet is gone and there is no more junk food in the house.

He said he was tempted to buy it, but didn't. So, yes! Today is a better day!

Sadly, a huge bag of almonds is in my freezer (I hid them there in the hopes that my forgetfulness will allow them to be hidden - huh, right!), a huge bag of pecans is in the baking cupboard, along with a bag of walnuts. The pistachio's and peanuts are similarly lurking....

My house is one big dangerzone...Resist, resist, resist...

Hm...I'm thinking if I hide the ice cream in the cupboard, that would solve my problems with actually eating it.

Tap - have you considered N/A (Nuts Anonymous?)

Step One - Admit you have a nut problem.

Step Two....

 Your strategy for the ice cream WOULD work...but only if you allowed your personal demon back into the house. But as you have purged your home it won't be a problem anymore, right??? Why do I get a mental image of your husband's arms resembling rotini from all the arm twisting that is in his future???

LOL! Yeah, poor guy.

I told him there's nothing wrong w/running out on the weekend, or that kind of thing, but having it in the house is BAD.

One time we had Oreos and I think I ate them all in one weekend. He sat down on that Sunday night to eat some and opened the package to reveal 2 left. He said, "I didn't get any of these."

I was like, "Duh...told you not to buy it." He's a big guy, but it's from 2nd / 3rd helpings of real food.

My fatness came from junk food. It's definitely something I've been fighting, and will win - eventually.

Can you hear them??? They are calling to me.....it's 740 at night, I just ate a slice of melon to try and beat the cravings/silence the voices in my head. But still the nuts are calling: we miss you; we are here - high in Protein and good for you (#$@%$##$ they know which buttons to push)

Make them stop!!!!!!

I'm so glad you posted this. I had plans to finish off the ice cream tonight. Thought about posting here in an attempt to resist and then said "Nope, I'm gonna eat it." Now I've said it, maybe I can resist it. I can do it! Though there's a big part of me that just wants to get it out of my house.

Yeah, having the substance out of the house is a help when resistence is low (although not a guarantee Tap sagely says knowing the quick trip to the store that can be done....). But if I were to throw out all the nuts I'd waste a blessed fortune at the price of nuts! So, I am just going to have to resist them. 2 nights down, only 4 more to go!

How sad is that, that I am counting down days until I allow myself something to eat? This is not good, but perhaps the 'completely forgetting/obsessing about food' mind-set will come in time.

Okay, I'm ready to get on this now. The chocolate chips are gone from the house. Not one minty morsel of refreshing coolness left. Yep, I failed to resist it. But I have learned from it. I definitely can't have that stuff in the house yet. I feel totally able to do it now even though there are two other ice creams in there.

You can do it, Tap!

We can do this. Repeat: We can do this.

I just have to chant that to myself until "The Voices" go away.

"I think I am stronger than my cravings on most days"

OOps I mean

I am stronger than my cravings.

LOL RSG - long time, no talk! 44 pounds, wtg!!!!!
