Is there a LapBand Book???

Recommended Posts

I have heard that there is a living with lapband book (or something like that) book. I can't find anything like it at the bookstores. Have any of you heard of a lapband book?:)

I would call it more of a booklet. My dr gave it to me on my first visit. I am not sure you can get it anywhere else. It is called "Living with the Lapband"

Go to amazon's website and enter the words Lap Band. It will bring up a number of books from information, handbooks, cook books, etc.....

I've heard the cook book is great as it avoids the foods that we Bandsters typically can't eat, like breads, rice, heavy meats, etc.....

If you go to Amazon and type in 'Jessie Ahroni' (author) you will get a link to purchase [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Laparoscopic-Adjustable-Gastric-Banding-Achieving/dp/0595311148/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220452366&sr=8-1]Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding: Achieving Permanent Weight Loss with Minimally Invasive Surgery [/ame]by Jessie H. Ahroni Ph.D. A. R. N. P. You can also order this book thru most chain bookstores like Borders or Chapters and its a great book. Jessie is a long-term bandster (9+ years) and works in a banding clinic/facility in WA state. The book is very helpful and written in a way that it is easy to understand.

Good luck,

Patricia

Great book--"Fighting Weight" by Laila Ali. It is great and tells all about her struggles as Muhamad's daughter when she was a fat little girl and the boys beating her up so they could brag they beat up the boxer's daughter. She tells how it was and is the only way she could lose weight and is extremely inspiring. She believes it is the only way to lose weight long term and keep it off. I read it before the surgery and it helped asuage any doubts or fears I might have had. She is also the only heavy one of Mohamad's daughters that is heavy so it was an additional burden. You can get it at The Tattered Cover or Amazon.com.< /p>

The Lapband Solution (mentioned above) and The Lapband Companion are both good picks. I got them from Amazon.com. I also have a cookbook called A Collection of Neighborhood recipes (all WLS patients) available at livingafterwls.com.

"Lap-Band For Life" by Ariel Ortiz Lagardere is the one that was recommended to me.

I have heard lots of bad things about Dr. Ortiz' book, such as the English being pretty bad in parts of the book, as well as numerous spelling mistakes. I have not seen these in person though, so I'm just relaying what I've heard.

I searched Amazon last month for Lap Band books and settled on this one. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600940021]Amazon.com: Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know Before and After Surgery to Lose Weight Successfully: Robert Sewell, Linda Rohrbough: Books[/ame]

I am not done reading it yet, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. It's very easy to read, informative, and there are several personal success stories with pictures. I highly recommend it, and it's pretty cheap too!

I have A BOOK!! Its the bible for Lapband. My surgeon and their office pride themselves with this book saying no others have it. Its full of info, recipes, etc... I LOVE IT. They do sell them. Not sure what they will cost but we were told if we lost them it would be 10 bucks for a replacement. So maybe its just 10 bucks. Hope its the book you have in mind. Give them a call. Worst case scenario you blew 10 bucks for a book you don't want but I think you'll love it.

Give them a call

Let them know you want the book called "Barix Clinics" Guide to Good Health.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
