Congrats on 185. I am just trying to make it to onderland. I have lost some hair. I didn't have a lot to begin with, so I am looking awful. It hasn't grown back yet, but my hair grows VERY slow anyway. I am just going to have to wait it out. I go for my 5th fill on Tuesday. I have been starving since December. I had a fill in January, but it wasn't enough. I waited the 2 weeks to make sure it wasn't going to tighten. I could eat just about any food if I tried. I am struggling really hard NOT to eat those foods. I did eat a hot dog (with bun). I only ate the one, but I should not have. I forgot to mention that I had lost then gained 4 pounds. I have worked to get those back off. I bought an exercise bike to work out and watch tv. I am trying to work my way up to a long time on the bike. It is a struggle.

#5 was to much for me.... and that's hard to admit. Glad we did a complete unfill, makes me more grateful for what we have.

Ok... I didn't do anything special... so I think my body is finally kicking in again.... But since Monday I lost 4 pounds. Weird. I am watching what i eat more carefully. I'm also making sure I get enough Water, and fibre ( I got the fibre chewables that are weight smart or whatever, they're new on the market). I'm finally not fighting Constipation. I'm peeing CONSTANTLY! But hey it's helping. I am hungry often, but I do think that's head hunger. Why? Because if I can distract myself, it goes away.

I also started with the wii fit again this morning. It's been so long I barely made it thru some stretches, and 20 minutes of the free step in the fast step. I hope to continue doing it. Pre op I did it daily... I've slacked off.

Admission time... I suffer from chronic back, and arm pain. I have had a spinal fusion, need several more. I have narcotics to take, but they barely take the edge off the pain. I'm afraid to be impared to much. I have the twins to care for ya know. Anyway, since the band surgery was in the fall, it's been a real nightmare to exercise at all. Spring seems to be coming to upstate NY, and I'm feeling a tad bit more human. I love the snow or I'd relocate. I'm on heavy weight pain medication, and it barely takes the edge off. My pcp has offered to increase it, but I'm fearful of being to tired to do much with the boys. Or of falling asleep while caring for them. I won't be irresponsible. Days like today, when Michael kept me up most of the night crying, I haven't even taken any, because I'm so tired, I"m falling asleep without it. :) Hopefully he's feeling better and will rest tonight.

I will go. Didn't come here to write a book.

Teri

Teri, just do the best you can. If you can't exercise, then do what the Dr Says. Also, Spring is almost here. A lot of the winter illneses will ease. Also, you will feel better once it warms up. We are all here for you. You are doing a terrific job! Don't worry about writing a book either, it gives us a glimpse of you, and personally, I like what I read!

Take care Debbie

I have so much more to lose that the rest of you, my original BMI was 54. I have lost 59 since 9/29/08 (banding) and 6 pounds before that. I think you all are dong terrific. I still have over 100 lbs to lose, so i know it will take me at least 18months. But I am ok with it. Good luck to all, Dor

Your weight loss is great! Don't diminish your accomplishments. You should be very proud of what you have done. I am proud to know that we got banded in the same month. You keep up the good work!

HOLY BUCKETS!! THAT IS AWESOME!! I was banded on Sept 30th 2008 as well and I am down 67 pounds. Had my year checkup with my surgeon last Thursday the 17th and he was extremely pleased with my progress. He had wanted 50 pounds off in a year, so I am ahead of schedule. I want to be officially over 70 before the 30th, so guess we will see. Again GREAT JOB!!

My year has royally sucked. I'm on the verge of firing my surgeon's too. I still am not at my "sweet spot" can't seem to find it. Either I'm always getting stuck, or it goes right thru. So ok, I'm a failure at yet another thing. I went into surgery at 242. Today i sit here at 232. Wooo hooo 10 pounds lost. In a year? I could have done that before. I'm at the point I'm thinking about looking into revision surgery. My surgeon's started doing it, but the PA and I are not seeing eye to eye.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
