Hello everyone I am new to the site, and I am on my journey to a new life. Thats what it is right? It would be so much easier if I would have taken care of myself a long time ago. I haven't always been this heavy, I played sports in high school, love them, still do, just can't do much with all this weight I have gain in the last 17 years! WOW, I have been out of school for a while, it kind of sneaks up on you, kind of like all the weight!!!

I am scheduled for my 1st visit and seminar on 9-10-08, and I know that I have to do the 6 month visits. So I will not be getting banded until March or later! I wish it was now!!

Hello there! I just had my surgery this past Tuesday. I know it seems like it takes forever to go through the process of getting insurance approval. Just don't think about it. Time will go by faster than you think. Just enjoy every meal and get into the right mind set that a lifestyle is about to change.

I grew up near Brownsboro and I use to know Gilmer quite well. My ex was from Gladewater. I am about 175 pounds overweight according to the medical charts. However, I have a big frame.

The main reason for getting the surgery is to be healthier and be around longer for my family and the other reason is oh how much I miss going to six flags! We are making plans to go up there in Dec. for Holiday in the Park, if it isn't too cold.

Let me know if I can answer anything. My email is chriswallison@msn.com

Thank you all for making me feel so welcomed. I will be banded in Tyler; Dr. Babineau; I have to use him and ETMC, thats who my insurance is through, I work for ETMC. So I have to go with who my insurance will pay for, but I have heard a lot of good things about him. I know of about 3 people that work at my hospital who have used him, but they had a by-pass done, and one is getting ready to get her lap band done with him.

I am sooooo ready to start my new life, to enjoy life again. I have a 8 year old and she is into all kinds of sports and I so want to get out there with her, but this weight is to much. I need to lose about 150-170. I think anyway. I'm ready to be noticed again, and to be there for my daughter, I want to make her happy too!!!

Hey Labby! I'm starting right about now too, it'll be fun to see how we progress toward surgery (I can't wait!!!) and see how our lives change.

I too have a bit less than 200lbs to lose, I love sports and I miss them terribly! Volleyball and spandex shorts, watch out - I'm comin back for you!

Woohoo!

Welcome to the group.

I spent a good deal of time around Tyler (I've been though Gilmer a time or two).

Just hang in there.

I was banded about 5 weeks ago, and am happy so far (I am not one of those "I love my band so much I've given it a name" kind of people). It is a good tool. This list, however, is also a great tool for inspiration to keep going.

Use this tool until you are able to get the band, and you might get a good step on forward before band-day.

Glad you're here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
