Oh ya and her shout out to her brothers third grade class. It was like she was running for President of her high school.

Again, I thought that was just very real. Can you imagine how important that made those 3rd graders feel? Kids need that -- to feel they're important. In fact, 3rd graders watching all over the nation were probably cheering when they heard it. IMO there was nothing wrong with it. I thought it was awesome.

Politicians of all shapes and sizes regularly visit elementary school classes, read books to them, visit children's hospitals, hold and kiss babies, etc. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, either. It personalizes them to connect with kids.

How do you feel about the kids from Venice, CA, singing, literally singing, Obama's praises (YouTube video) with other students, led by what looks like a teacher, being watched adoringly by their parents? Do you think that demeans Obama?

I just don't see how you can be embarassed by her. Sarah Palin is an educated woman. You may disagree with her politics, but that doesn't mean she's not intelligent and educated. I don't like a lot of left-wing politicians, but just because I don't agree with their politics, style, or mannerisms doesn't mean I think they're insulting, unprofessional, or uneducated. And they certainly don't embarass me because, quite simply, they're not me. The only one who can embarass me is me.

I wouldn't say the winking was sexual but it was definitely an unprofessional move! Winking???? Of course everyone reads body language and gestures differently, what one may notice, another may not. To some, her gestures were great, to me her gestures were unnecessary and did not express a feeling of a "one on one connection". I felt she was connecting to her personal friends and family rather then me, a professional educated middle class young woman who is an undecided voter.

well sorry gadget, like ya - but i do find her an utter embarassment, and so do many professional women - those in my circle; can't speak for outside my corners of the world. but it's your world too ... conservative dallas, me being the lone liberal friend. i DON'T agree w/her politics, not one ounce of them - but please don't take my slight on her mannerisms to sum her up "whole".... she does not come across as intelligent / professional & for that matter properly educated - sorry; that's a fact that you may not like to hear, however a real perception of ms palin...

Me, too. I'd happily switch -- I'd love for the Dems to get the 34 TX votes and the Republicans to get CA's 55.

My impression is, those making an issue of the winks, etc, are not likely to agree with whatever she says or does anyway.

I've met with many powerful women in politics and academics as well as business. They ALL have their little 'tells'....Generally it has been either appropriate or advantageous to overlook or ignore those. .

yeah, i had my "little" tell - i'd ask for the PO from CEO's or the CIO. didn't play little girl actions; didn't have to.

jack you may have "met" many powerful women - but some here posting ARE powerful women; those who get to decide if ms palin has hurt or helped the republicans. enjoy her six pack model; she's engaged alright - not to the hillary voters she was set out to recover.

Okay for giggles I'll throw my "liberal" 2 cents in. I keep reading the word "professional" and I personally think she can come across professional and the winking, awe shucks vocabulary would work very well in certain audiences. I personally want my Vice President & President to be held to a different standard of professionalism. I want them to be presidential and I think the two are very different. She would be fine and probably very successful in corporate America and local politics. However, corporate America and a leader for the United States of America are different and I would personally not be comfortable with my VP acting that way. Her mannerisms don't make her dumb or even unqualified but she certainly needs some coaching that her message will come across just as strong without the winks and nods. She should save those for town hall meetings and not the world stage. She is in a different league now and needs to adapt.

Have you looked at Obama's net worth recently? His INCOME in 2007 (not his NET WORTH but his INCOME) was $4.2 million.

I think all politicians are out of the mainstream's league in terms of net worth. But having a net worth of $1.2 million wouldn't make me do backflips about how out-of-the-norm it is -- especially where I live in California! You don't have to have much of a house here to get pretty high up in net worth pretty darn fast.

What he does is lie and make things up. This wasn't a gaffe. It was an outright lie. The Katie's Restaurant in which he supposedly chats with the patrons has been closed for 15 years. The employees of the Home Depot in which he supposedly spends a lot of time don't remember ever seeing him there.
