The Photo Album Forum

Am I wrong in assuming that the purpose of the albums should be to display pre vs. post band weight loss?

When ppl post pictures of their families or a million pictures of themselves pre-band and no post-surgery stuff it's so irritating. It's a waste of time to open up an album only to see pictures of some stranger's family vacation or pet animal.

I really look forward to looking at progress pics in the weight loss thread and the albums. It gives me so much motivation. It is one of the reasons why I visit this forum so often. But when 10 albums in a row is non-weightloss photos...:)

I am actually shocked that people post pics of their kids and grandkids without blurring the faces. After all this is a public forum, anyone can be on here lurking about.

I agree with you. While i must admit i do love the pets but your right it's not the place for them and i think most of us do go there for encouragment and after trying to get through all the family pics and so on you just get tired of it and click off.

I think maybe y'all are confusing the "before and after" pics thread in the general area with the "photo" tab at the top of the page. The photo section is just that....photos. Some people want to show off family, pets, whatever.

Now if you want to look exclusively at inspirational "before and after" photos, on the main page there is a section called "general laband surgery discussion". Enter there and you'll see the "Before & After" pic thread. I have yet to see pets and kids much in that thread.

The photo album should be related to weight loss. Looking at 5 pictures of your leg tattoo or your pitbull to thousands of strangers is pointless.

Why? I personally like these pictures. To me, it serves to humanize the folks that post here. I think that's why we all have the ability to "personalize" our posts, via avatars and signatures.

I think the big problem is that when someone posts 20 pictures of their kids, it takes over the front page. Actually, I think that's a problem if they post 20 befores and after. Maybe it's just the front page that has to change -- 1 pic per account would give you a greater variety.

yeah, ok, I'm an arguementative bastard....but that's just the display on the front page (Uh, like you mentioned). If somebody actually click on the "photos" header, it goes into the 1 pic display / album.

So I'm confused... are you agreeing with me or not?

Oh, you'd like to know that, wouldn't you, Mac.....Well I'm not telling. It's what makes me a dark mysterious type.

Nope, your wrong i went there and it's still plenty of kids, pets, vacations, and so fourth. Doesn't the name of the thread say it all BEFORE AND AFTER i mean it's not called here's my life

My point is about safety.

With all the talk about internet predators, why on earth would people post pics of their kids on a public forum?

It's one thing if you want to post your own pic, but I think it's irresponsible to post pics of other unsuspecting individuals on-line, especially youngsters.

In other forums I belong to it's customary to "blur" the faces of others that you are pictured with.

The owner and moderators of this board are happy for it to be whatever we want it to be as long as we don't break any rules. Posting a zillion pictures of your tattoos or your German Shepherd in your photo album is not against the rules.

If you think a thread has gone seriously off topic you can report the post and the mods will try to steer it back if they feel it necessary....or you can try to steer it back yourself!

It's what makes me a dark mysterious type.

Not with that avatar!

I didn't realize you were talking about the B&A *thread*. I don't go there any more. But I've noticed coming to home page and seeing all pix of someone's dog and thinking "huh?"

I personally enjoy looking at pictures, but it's a little hard when I pull up the site and see a picture of someone's bare butt. I think that's where I draw the line.

I don't even mind seeing the before pics of people in their underwear, but someone's bare butt is a little too much for me. And this was displayed on the home page, not the before and after thread. I admire people who can take pictures of themselves like that, as I would never have the nerve to do that. It's just that if I don't want to look at a bare butt picture of myself, I definately don't want to see someone else's.

I love the before, during, and after pics. I don't enjoy looking at babies but that is just me. I don't like babies but most people do. I do like some family pics, Hallowe'en photos for instance. I think that the value and the charm of this site is that it is a very big and generous site. It has made room in order that it might accomodate all of our interests. That is why I am personally cool with the inclusion of material that does not personally interest me.
