Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Recommended Posts

So good to hear everyone is doing well. I'm losing slower than some, but I'm losing:tt2:. I was at this same weight

1 1/2 weeks ago but life got in the way (also called vacation) and I had deserts most nights and had a martini evey night:drool:. So I gained 1.2 pounds. But after getting back to boot camp, it all went away after the first day. Now that's a first for me. In the past I would have gained 5-7 pounds and just kept going!!!

So onederland here I come. It should be any day now. When it hit's I'm taking a picture!

Molly Jo get to that gym - I know it sounds ghastly! But when I started boot camp that's what kicked my losing into gear. I promise you that if you exercise those last ac ouple pounds will be off in no time -- certainly in time for your bandiversary.

I signed up and have an appointment for Friday...GOD help me!! They are going to hurt me!! LOL I am starting to get flabby so I need to get going.

Congrats to you, you are doing great! I was stuck at 1 pound lost since May so that is why i decided to fill again. Maybe you are just at a plateau? I am hoping this will be my last fill... keep your fingers crossed and post some pictures of yourself and your success!! I can't wait to see you in ONEDERLAND!!!:thumbup::D

Oh Happy Day! I've made it to onederland. I have tears in my eyes and if I could figure out how to do it, I would load the picture that proves it into this post - but you'll have to go to my profile to view it.

You guys have all been my support. While me loss has been slower, I've never lost hope (ok, well almost never - lol). I'm going the distance!

It's been about 15 years since I saw Onederland - now I never have to see that 2 in front again for the rest of my life! I love my band!

And maybe I got the picture in here anyway.

Oh Joy! Oh Rapture! I love my band!!!!!

Well I am going to post this here and in my blog. I want to put this out to all of you because you are in the same step in this long journey that I am.

I have really been having a hard time. June 27th was my lowest weight. I might have hit it one other time. I weigh about 3 lbs more than that. I maintained my weight for a few weeks, actually about a month before my vacation. I gain 3 lbs on vacation and lost it since I got back.

I know this is all great. I guess it is. That is what I would tell most people. My probelm is that I have lost that edge that I gained with this decision. I am still working out 3-6 days a week. Good work outs and I am really happy with how I am doing at the gym. My problem is what I am eating. I do pretty well and then I do something to really screw it up. Ice cream, Cookies, popcorn. ugh! I used to not have any problem passing it up. Now I can't see to say no. I wonder if I just need to purge my system of the carbs or be less happy with my weight.

I lost my restriction on my vacation. I ate a pretzel and homeade pizza dough. Now you all know that I shouldn't be able to eat that. So I realize that my restriction is gone. I do still have appetite supression which is SO important. I have been able to eat too much. I haven't been pushing my limits, but I don't get full very fast. Before vacation I have had to really watch what I eat and take very small bites so I was afraid that I was too tight, but now I am starting to doubt that was the fact. I think I just need to be more careful about what I eat and the bites I take.

I think I am going to call my doctor tomorrow for an appt. My doctor is 7 hours away. It sucks to go that far and I haven't been there since April. I guess that is what I need to do.

Any advice from any Smashing Pumpkins? All comments welcome!

YES!! Stop beating yourself up!! You need a fill thats all! I met a girl in Mexico who had only lost 30 pounds since the surgery 9 months ago finally went back to the dr and he unfilled the band and refilled it and she lost 10 pounds in a week!! Everyone is different, you are working hard and dont give up!

I know how you feel though sometimes you just want to eat it because you can't...ugh Hang in there Wish I could give you a hug!! Keep the faith... you can do it...and I admire the fact that you are at the gym... this is something i really want to do (ok I really DON"T want to do it) but I think I need too...so you have 1/2 that battle won already!!

Go get your fill and restart your journey! You have come way too far to give up now Julie Ann!!

OK Julie Ann - you've been my inspiration and the little slips you're describing are insignificant compared to your success! Also, you're cointinuing to work out. You know, I just got back from a little mini vacation and I lost 1/2 pound -- that never happened before! And I drank a little, and had some deserts too. My husband calls that "life." And, girl, you have to live it! You can't be perfect all the time - at least I can't. Don't worry. Take a baby step towards "better behavior." For instance cut out all the sweets, or cut out the popcorn and say only 1 bite of "x". And get that fill. You'll fee better in no time!!!!

Oh you guys make me want to cry. You are all so sweet and supportive and I couldn't have done what I have done so far without all of you. I need to come back here more often and write down on sparkpeople what I am eating. I gave an appt for a fill on Monday. I plan to get back to basics with that fill and remember why I am doing this.

I love all the positive attention I get. Okay, maybe not ALL the attention I get. Sometimes it is a little weird, but sometimes I wonder if all that positive attention is part of the reason that I have become too comfortable at this weight...at this size. I LOVE that I am a size 12. Don't get me wrong, I never thought it would happen. I never thought I would be this size, but I want MORE!!!!! um wait.... I want LESS!!!!

hehe. I crack myself up.

Thanks guys. I love you all. (My band-family I will never meet) God bless you!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
