Anyone out there from Raleigh? I am new to all this- getting ready to have a surgery date soon. I'm going to Dr. Moran- he seems nice, anyone with experience with him?

I hope to learn a lot from all you guys going through it. Like, is it realistic to go back to work in a week? (office setting). And how often do you have the band adjusted??

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bev:smile:

I have insurance so they have told me they would pay most of it. Don't know what his total costs are. I'm hoping to have the surgery by October!! Good Luck to you!!

Dr. Moran will be doing my surgery this Wednesday. I have been very happy with him and his staff. I don't know how much everything will cost because my insurance will be paying. The enrollment fee was not covered by insurance and was $250. I'll be happy to share my billing once I get it.

I'm not sure how many specialists Dr. Moran or Dr. Enochs will require you to see, but be sure to count that into the costs that you are looking at. Hopefully your insurance will cover some of the costs. I know that I needed a chest x-ray, labwork, EKG, dietician (not covered by my ins) and a psych clearance. I'm not sure how many of those are required by insurance or if they are required by the dr.

Bev,

I was banded on Thursday, and went back to work on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). I'm sure that I could have worked all day on Monday without any problem. I work at a desk, but get up and down a few times a day (in addition to potty breaks) and I think that would have been just fine too. When I got to work on Tuesday, everyone who came by to check on my said "I thought you were supposed to have surgery last week?" I LOVED it!!!

I haven't heard too much about Dr. Moran but he did med school overseas. I had my LapBand with Dr. Enochs and he and his staff were phenomenal.!! I was so pleased with my experience with Dr. Enochs. I have lost over 68 pounds so far! Best wishes and keep us posted.

JEANBEAN (and others) It is obvious that you work for Dr. Enochs. You have posted repeatedly about him, advertising for him, which is against this forum's guidelines.

I was considering using Dr. Enochs for my lap band, but your posts actually made me reconsider. I think that a well-qualified surgeon would let his work and reputation speak for itself. I worry about why Dr. Enochs has to resort to such deceitful tactics to drum up business.

Congratulations!! That was fast weight loss!!

I was supposed to have the surgery on Oct 2 with Dr Moran, but my insurance (BCBS) denied me at the last minute due to the nutritionist report not having enough follow-up care. I was so upset. I am appealing though- so wish me luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
