Tell the Truth, Did you cheat AT ALL on your Preop Diet?

Title says it all.

I'll admit to having a couple extra brussel sprouts one day as well as one slice of sugar free whole wheat bread tonight (plain) but thats it and I feel guilty about it. I'm on day 7 of 14.

Thankfully I don't count dream cheating because I'm dreamed of eating about 10 big macs and a bag of chocolate by now!

I was tempted a few times, by of all things some cheese in the frig thatI left for my grandson. Then I told myself. if I ate that cheese I was only cheating myself. So, I made in though the two weeks with no cheating. I also had to do liquids on for one week after surgery, and to be honest I was afraid not to stick to that. I have not had any nasuea! I am now nearly done with one week of pureed food, which is not to bad. I can honestly say I am not hungry. On Aug. 20th I start soft food! Then, I go back to the doctor on the 26th for my second follow-up visit. I lost about 50 pounds on low carb before the pre-op diet, because they told me the surgery would be easier if I lost some weight before hand.

well i really think everybody cheats at least once even though they think not with a juice or water just something and yes i am among those who had a a quarter of donut a sliver of fried fish boy did i want the whole peace but guilt got me and those three teaspoons of chnese on two seperate occassions but i di chew and spit so that is it i have 3 days to go for surgery and i will not i will not eat anything else my i feel that when you get stressed about food it is better to take one tiny bite i know i am wrong but i works for me then i am ok.

O man i feel bad i never hade the chance to do my preop i was in the H with my doughter the whole week and i have my surgery date on tuesday the 19 so sopefully everything will be ok. wish me luck.

I really have to disagree with you.

I've been working very hard for this for the last 6 months. I'm having surgery next Monday. I started a pre-op of shakes and no-calorie drinks on Friday, I have not had anything other than that. Do I want it? YES! Am I going to do it? NO! I was tempted to go to the store and get some fat-free broth and add some Protein powder to it and replace it with one shake (it would add up to one of my shakes), surgeon even said I could use my powder in something. BUT he didn't say I could have broth! He said shakes and no-calorie drinks.

Did I want a taste of my daughter's scrambled eggs this AM? YES! Did I have any? NO! I was also VERY tempted by the tuna that I got for her for lunch. Plain it's only 60 calories and 1/2 a gram of fat, probably wouldn't have hurt BUT it's not allowed, so I didn't have any of that either!

I'm not saying I'm a paragon of virtue, I'm just saying, there are people out there following the rules, whether you believe they are or not. It's up to you if you follow your surgeon's rules or not but don't paint others with the same brush. It's not fair. And you can NOT tell anyone else it's okay to go against their surgeon's advice and rules.
