I got banded today by Dr. Treen. Everything has been smooth so far. I bet we will run into each other at the support group. How are you doing with your band?

:thumbup:I am from the Westbank - Belle Chasse. I was banded by Dr. Treen this morning. So far, everything has gone smoothe. I hope this continues. Did you experience any problems after surgery that I may need to know about?

I am from Plaquemines also - Belle Chasse. What town in Plaquemines are you from? How is everything going with your banding experience?

Soup Girl I am also form Belle Chasse. I have just had my third fill. I felt good restriction after the 2nd fill but lost the restriction as I lost weight. I need to call Karen Monday and see if I can schedule another appointment to get a 4th fill.

I have not had any real problems with the Lap Band. The best advice I can give you is to chew thoroughly and eat slowly. I can not eat drier, tougher foods ( untoasted bread, chicken breast or some beef etc...) You will just need to try differant foods for yourself and see what works for you.

hey you guys! I am so happy that there are others here whom were banded by Dr. Treen. He is a great surgeon. I did not have any probs. I had my first fill on last Thursday. The band is really tight in the morning, but not having much restriction. He said if I didn't feel any restriction, I should come in for another fill in 2 weeks. Congrats Soup on your surgery, Now the real journey begins. Well I am not from Plaquemines, but I did grow up right in Gretna, and now I live in Algiers. Will you guys be going to the upcoming support group. I will probably attend. :)

Hi Everyone,

I live in Slidell and was banded by Dr. Treen on April 1. Happy to see that there are several of Dr. Treen's people are posting here. I have had several problems but not huge. hair has been falling out for the past several weeks but Michelle says it happen to Karen and will stop at some point. Kinda disturbing but I feel better since I spoke to her yesterday.

Kinda got off track but doing much better now. Even joined a gym .

When is the next support meeting????

Happy to find you all,

Abby :)

Hi Shangefan,

I was also self pay. I had my surgery on July 25. Yes they are really nice at Surgical Clinic of La, especially Karen, she is so well versed in the lapband. Well good luck to you and KIT.

I'm from Marrero and was banded on Aug. 27, 2008 by Dr. Belott at West Jefferson. I also was selfpay. Everyone at the Surgical Clinic of LA has been very nice. Karen does an awesome job helping you prepare for what to expect before/after surgery. I highly reccommend Dr. Belott if anyone is considering being banded.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
