  1. I went to see the doctor about the rash and it is an infection under the skin. He put me on antibiotics and it is now getting better.
  2. I got banded one month ago and I have the exact same problem. I have some type of rash around the largest incision site and it is red all around it. The incision is healing and is completely shut but it is really red around it. The nurses I work with tell me it looks like a rash and not an infection. It is not hot. I tried cortisone cream and it worked overnight but later the next day, it was back. I think the problem is that my desk at work is at the same height as the incision and I think I bump it all day long and irritate it. Regardless, I'm seeing the doctor this week anyway.
  3. I agree that Dr.Treen and his staff are awesome. I missed the support group yesterday there because I over did it during the day and wasn't feeling so good. The staff there has been very supportive, especially Karen.
  4. My doctor told me to eat two chewable Flinstone complete vitamins every day. This has been working really good for me.
  5. I'm not sure what your burning feeling is but it could be acid reflux. I had acid reflux before my banding and they fixed my hiatal hernia and so far, I no longer have it. I had it for years. I would also suggest chewable tums - which is almost all calcium. When I saw doctors in the past for my reflux, they tell you that drinking milk will make it worse. It will feel good immediately but make more stomach acid and make the problem worse. Also, they tell you to avoid eating mints for the same reason. The tums should work. I was banded 5 days ago. I also had a lot of gas in my chest. I would usually take two or four gas X strips and tap on my chest for a little while and it would come up. It helped come up if I walked around a bit too. Good luck!
  6. Thanks for the advice. I am 5 days out of surgery and I'm sure I will be getting hungry soon. I'll remember this.
  7. I am from the Westbank also, specifically Belle Chasse. I was banded 2 days ago, Aug 22. I think a support group would be a good idea.
  8. I am new to this site and it is great! I was banded 2 days ago on Aug 22. I live in South of New Orleans in town called Belle Chasse. I have a son who made 10 today and a wonderful husband of 15 years. After many years of fighting the battle of the bulge, I finally decided to take drastic measures and go all the way. I am excited about this new chapter in my life and can't wait to start losing more weight. I lost some during the liquid diet before surgery but haven't been on a scale yet. I started this journey at 332. Not being hungry after surgery is definately a bonus for right now because I was starving before surgery. So far, so good. No gas pains either.
  9. I am new to this site too. I was scared before surgery too but it was a breeze. I had surgery 2 days ago, Aug 22. I can wait to begin my new journey!
  10. The day finally arrived. I received my new lapband today. Everything has gone smoothe so far. I am a little sore but the pain medication takes care of it. No gas cramps so far either. Thanks to everyone who writes. I did a lot of reading on this site over the last week to get me through this.
