Went to the doc today (my MD) he said while I was in surgery getting my band they took a biopsy of my liver.... I didn't know that. I guess they do it or this doc does on fatty livers.... and I have non contagious Hepatitus.... Boy what a shock... I was not ready for this one.. Has anyone else been thought this.....

Did he say how this will affect the band, if at all? Have you been out of the country for an extended period? Can he guage how long you may have had it? Any prognosis on how he'll deal with it? I wonder how common or uncommon this is.

Hi Cathrine. I was banded on July 16 and was told by my doc 2 weeks later that I have the same thing. He said that it was pretty uncommon and would have never believed it until he saw it for himself on the biopsy results. I asked him if it would affect my band or what info he could tell me. He informed me that it wouldn't affect my band, I am not contagious whatsoever to anyone at any time, and I would probably have never known it if I didn't have a biopsy of my liver. Go figure! He aked me if I had ever been around anyone with tuberculosis and I said that when I was two yrs old my cousin had it and I was around her. But anyway I am trying to research any info on the internet that I can because I feel kinda strange just knowing that I have ANY form of hepatitus wether it be contagious or not. So I'm in the same boat you are and hopefully we will never have any problems from it.

Cathrine, that is crazy! I have never heard of such a thing. Did your doc give you some answers to your questions? I hope so! I had something similar when I did my endoscope - they found that I have Barrett's Disease - pre-cancerous cells in the esophagus (sp). Nice!

Same thing, I would have never known had he not done the procedure. They will be doing a 'burn' procedure to get rid of the cells and see if they grow back normally.

It is scary when you find out something about your health when you had no clue that anything was wrong. I feel for you! Do some research and get some answers.

I am thinking of you! Kristen

What you have is called NASH or Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis; it is more than likely caused by your obesity. Hepatitis itself refers to ANY liver inflamation. The good news is that your weightloss will improve this condition. You can read more informaiton here Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)-Overview

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
