This is Lisa I had my surgery three days ago on Aug 5th. Weighed in at 215 lbs, with health issues. Go back to surgeon in one week.

I have to say this is so painful the first few days.....my stomach is just killing me. 5 cuts.....looks like stab wounds. They are swollen and sore. Stayed over night in the hospital, which I think you should stay at least two nights, not one and never out the same day. Yesterday I ate some Jello, broth and crystal lite, everything in a shot glass. Today the samething. I am not not starving but I feel I am suppose to eat. You don't even realize how much you have eaten before when all you can eat now is liquids. My family is making eggs and it's just naturally for you to taste or take a bite and you can't. You realize just how much you ate before and just never paid attention. I can't just go int the frig and get ice cream or even a veggie or fruit, you have to wach so you don't vomit. It's painful right now day three and I hope it gets easier.....I just want this pain to go away, I want to sleep for more then a couple of hours. It just hurts. I'm still glad I did this but when this pain goes then I can feel better about this whole thing.

Lisa:crying:

Hi Lisa! Sorry to hear you're having so much pain. My Dr gave me Tylenol with codeine so it helped me get thru the night. I had my surgery on July 29th and felt MUCH better by August 2nd. And today i feel absolutely no pain. I promise it does get better pretty quickly. It doesnt help that we cant eat to "ease our pain" lol. Good luck and hang in there!!!

Goodmoring! It sounds like you and I are going to be in the same boat together. My surgery was Monday, I weighed in at 216, and I'm from the same general area. I hope we start feeling better soon. I must admit that my discomfort is much better today and I am sleeping better. My Dr. gave me liquid Tylenol with codein which I stopped taking the second day. I now take just Tylenol. Alot of sitting around and rest for now which I am not used to. Be good to yourself during these days and focus on the outcome ahead!

I just had my surgery yesterday morning and was released last night. I understand about the pain and discomfort. I don't feel in as much pain as I expected but still is a bit. But feel better this morning at least more alert. I think it will just take us a few days to a week to get back to feeling like our normal selves.

Lisa, we all have various pain levels, personally, I was a little uncomfortable, but not in severe pain. Stopped taking pain meds the second day. Maybe my doctor was more gentle, LOL, who knows, but we are all different when it comes to pain. Walking really helps the healing and is good for you too.

Good luck to you all of you on your journey to a healthier , happier you!

Hugs

Lisa, if your doctor sent you home with pain meds (and he/she should have) by all means take them. You don't need to suffer unnecessarily. HarleyNana is right, we are all different when it comes to pain, and the walking does help with the healing and gas too. But don't suffer, take the meds and be comfortable.

In my 2nd week and I still feel sore on my left side were my port is. I did take the meds when needed I do have a high tolerence to pain, but this hurt I have to say or it's my age now and I don't like pain lol who knows.

I don't take any meds now until I go to sleep. Turning my side to side makes my port hurt....feels like it's pulling or stabbing or something. Anyone else feeling that way or did feel that way?

Eating mushy food now and I only eat a little I am afraid to eat more.

How is everyone doing?

Lisa

The first day it took me awhile to eat. Now it's like 15 mins and I have to put my fork or spoon down just to take my time.

I'm suppose to have like 1/2 cup of food...8 tbsp I measured and I have been only eating 4 tbsp.....but 4 more seem to be too much food I just don't know I'm leaving for the doctors soon...I ll be asking him. I don't want to over eat....I have not felt full yet. I just hope I am doing the right thing......I always feel like I am not. I haven't driven yet and I have a stick so today will be the first day of driving. Well I'll let you know how my first visit went....so glad to be talking to so many people in the same stiuation as me, it helps so much and I need it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
