How are people dealing with taking medications after the lapband. I was told I could not swallow anything larger than an aspirin. I have found ways to cut pills, and some can be prescribed as liquid. I have one large capsule that I take for leg cramps, it is quinine (extremely nasty tasting) and it does not desolve in liquid, I really can not see me having to get this down, even for the next few days. Does anyone else have a similiar situation, and what do you do. I am desperate to resolve this. I was banded 8 days ago, am 65 years old, and so far, so good. HELP!!!

Noran, I have to take three blood pressure medications. The first thing I did was consult with my PCP who changed my perscriptions to pills that are not time release. I bought a pill crusher at the pharmacy and crush the pills and then take them with applesauce. They still taste yucky, but are tolerable. If the quinine pills are not time release, you might try this method. My hope is that soon I will not have to take the blood pressure medicine. I can tell you that having to deal with crushing the pills is a good incentive to continue with the weight loss to be able to be medication free.

I too am having trouble with my pills. I have to take meds 3 times a day for various things. I cut mine up for right now, but as I get tighter, I might have to switch over to crushing everytime-which I have tried:crying: It makes me gag and throw up in my mouth when I've crushed them because little particles still rest on the back of my tongue and it is very bitter and its a horrible feeling. I had tried applesause and pudding, neither work for me. At my followup yesterday, my doc suggested crushing, then letting them dissolve in warm Jello and putting my doses into seperate shots and taking them that way. I figure I'll try that even though it sounds like a real pain in the rear.

Using Jello shots sounds like a good idea--I'll try that, although I really do NOT like jello it is the leasser of a few evils (applesauce, plain yougart). What kind ofcontainers do you use for each shot? I'mthinking of getting those little cups with lids and our restaurant supply store (I think they hold one ounce.) Thanks.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
