Haircut suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment tomorrow to get my haircut. I'm ready for something different. I am always at a loss as to what style would suit me well. I need some input! I'll attach a picture of my current mop of hair. Hopefully someone is better at this then me!

a year ago I got brave enough to cut off my hair, I have an inverted bob which is just nape length and quite short above and almost collarbone length at the front, graduting at a sharp angle, like Rhianna's hair used to be before she cut it really short. Its a really cool dark brown. I really love it, its funky and young but still feminine and probably my best feature is my neck, shoulders and collarbones and it really shows those off. Its the best of both short and long hair and its easy to do as I have really frizzy, almost curly hair that has to be straightened when its been washed. So its a matter of blowing it roughly dry and then running the straightening Iron through it for silky soft, poker straight hair.

Unfortunately its absolutely disastrous at the beach or in the rain but my hair always has been. To run I wear a hat, lol.

I wont change it for ages and ages and I dont think I'll go back to boring long hair.

Have your hairdresser make some suggestions based on your face shape. They are taught how to do that in school. She/He will know what style would look fabulous on you.

I've always just wanted to go for it and get a cute little pixie cut. Never had the nerve, not to mention I'm sure hubby would hate it. Maybe a layered shaggy cut with some lowlights would look nice. You have to do what you're comfortable with.

I think a layered bob would be cute. It looks like you have naturally wavy hair. My hair is naturally curly and I can't pull off one length. Post pics please!

This is something I have seriously been considering for a few months now. I Haven't had a major cut except dead ends trims for years now. And my hair reaches the small of my back.

But now that I finally got my dream of having long hair I want it off!! LOL Already cut off 4-5 inches cause it was starting to hurt. My problem is i can't STAND IT to be on the back of my neck anymore. I have lived in ponytails or some other way of wearing it up for so long. It drives me nuts to have it down.

I know what sort of cut I want. I'd love a bob but my hair is naturally wavy its just now its pretty straight cause of its length. A bob means I would have to buy a straightner and fuss with it every day, something else I don't want.

So I was thinking of a shaggy/layered pixie type but longer then a traditional pixie. That way I can wash it moose or gel it and go.

But what I want most is color. And I don't mean normal color I want purple or hot pink but where to find it so that it lasts longer then a wash or 2? My daughter has tried some brands off the net but they don't seem to last more then a week or so at the most either.

I have always had very long hair down to my mid back and in April I had it cut down to shoulder length in a layer cut. This past Saturday when I went back I had a "oh what the hell moment" took a deep breath and asked my stylist to do a short angled bob. I have to say while my hair has never been this short before I love it. I have wavy hair naturally so I have to straighten it after washing. I just wanted to say don't be afraid to go short!

For those of you with natural curl that use a straightening Iron on it--a flat iron....I have a question. What about humidity? How well does it stay straight in the humidity?

My hair if short is VERY curly! To a point of frizzing. Now the length pulls most of it out, and the underneath layers of hair, are always kinky. With my layers now, it is long, shaggy, and either lays in waves, or I pull it up. When I had it shorter it was non stop constant work! I said when it grew back after chemo I would never bitch about it again......so while this is not a complaint (!) I would love to find way to "style" it without it being a full time job!

Where I live we use swamp coolers--------moist air is everywhere when you are inside, and yet it is super hot---100+ and usually less than 15% humidity outside! So......while y'all are tossing ideas--I could use some too!

Kat

Ok everyone... here are the results! So far I like it... but I have not tried styling it myself yet. That will be the true test.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
