I'm going to be a public school teacher this fall in Georgia, and have recently found out that lap band is not covered!! I want the surgery and feel I am a good candidate, so I don't want to be covered under the state's plan.

I'm thinking about purchasing a plan with a provider outside of my job, if this is allowed. Can someone point me in the right direction?

My BMI is 44 and I've been overweight for 10 years with a medical history to back it up.

As of 1-1-2009, some State of Georgia employee have wl surgery added to their policy. The HRA consumer driven product is covering weight loss surgery as of 1-1-2009. It is too late to sign up at this point, but when open enrollement begins again sign up.
