I would think you could pb before a fill because some people have restriction before a fill, maybe from swelling and so on and others just have restriction and can go a long time before they ever need a fill. so to me it seems likely those people may pb. but hey i'm no Doc.

I have heard that some people have trouble with bananas. I'm not sure why, unless they swallow a chunk, or bananas tend to regroup down below?

Orea

I have tried bananas several times since my last fill and they just won't go down. I even tried blending them in a Protein Shake until it was like liquid and I had pb like 10 min later. Don't know why but bananas and I are not a good pair anymore:thumbdown: They must regroup. Good question to ask my Dr next time.

Let us know what your doctor says. I've had bananas since being banded and haven't had any problems with them.

I was told that even though I dont have anything in my band to start with, just having the band around your stomach gives you some restriction. As you lose weight your stomach loses the fatty tissue around it thus making the band looser (sp?) So a fill basically closes that gap. As for PBing, I have yet to experience that but when I do get to the end of a meal that hasnt been exactly measured out I get what a call the burbies. Its a tiny little hiccup or burb. When this happens I stop eating and assume my band is helping me out. Hope this helps! Congrats to all of you on your weight loss AMAZING! Miine has been slow but I also scheduled foot surgery the week after lapband in order to force me to slow down and take it easy. Lapband recovery was a breeze compared to the foot surgery but in the long run the foot surgery is preventing me from over doing it which I tend to do.:P

Hi everyone -

I'm back from a 4 day business trip. It was not good. If I didn't think I had restriction I proved it on this trip. I was able to eat anything - and I did! I'm so disappointed in myself. I really need to work on this area of my life. I have my first fill on 9/8 so I hope that helps with restriction.

Does anyone else travel for business? If so, how are you doing?

Kathy

I haven't traveled for business since I was banded a month ago but I have a week long business trip coming up in mid September that I'm just dreading. I'm afraid of what the flight will do to my band as well as how I'm going to deal with eating hotel room service and business dinners. I will be getting a second fill 2 weeks prior to travel so hopefully it will be just the right amount.

HI there, I also travel for work reasons and have to eat out etc. I'm struggling with the temptation to eat what I feel like rather than what I should eat i.e. healthy choices. At the moment, I'm generally taking the healthy route but I'm eating amounts that all that much less than I was pre-banding (which was 31 July). The restriction I had when first banded has all but gone and I can't wait to get first fill on 14th Sept. I find because i'm often on my own and ordering room service in the past I comfort ate - also there was no-one to see me "pig out" if I wanted to. I'm trying to delay much work travel until after the first fill and the band and I "bond" more. Melanie

I don't think the flight will bother you, I flew 3 days after surgery from Mexico to Virginia no problem. good luck on your trip.

I got my first fill on thursday. When I drank Water in the doctor's office I could feel it going down. Now, eating a half a cup doesn't get it, but eating a whole lean cuisine.....I am full for 3-4 hours. Also, drinking a Protein water fills me up. I think it will take a couple of more fills to get a truly full feeling.

I get a pain in the middle of my chest and if I continue to eat the pain becomes worse.

Well, I guess everybody gets different signals when they are full. Since my fill on thursday I have been hungry most of the time. I am thinking she took out too much when she adjusted the band. This is going to be a challenging four weeks without much restriction. My next fill is september 18th.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
