Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Ok, I tried this once before and got way to eager. I started moving quicker than designed. This time I will follow the guidelines.

If you are not familiar with a Couch to 5K, it is a plan to go from not running at all to running 5k (3.2 miles) in only 2 months. It is very doable and such a great feeling of accomplishment. I ran/walked a 5k in May and it was one of the most rewarding things I have done in many years.

Here is the link to the info.. If anyone is interested in training together just join in.

Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

We will start on Monday, June 29.

Let's get ready to MOVE!!!!!!:tt2:

owww i got me some sweet looking cheerleaders.

maybe the book should be 'smart women dont tell there hubbys'

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh, I needed that one! My husbands 2 sayings... or "mantras" are: "happy wife, happy life" and "smile & nod"... so I guess mine could be "what he doesn't know..."

Whosya... Ok... here's your cheering section! YEAH!!! Make sure you post YOUR pictures you hunk! LOL, my DH would kill me for that one!

YEAH!!!! -

kathy - i weight train w/a trainer twice a wk, and a lot of what we do can be done at home w/ free weights / resistance bands / ball. i think that book might be a good start.

tootie (love the name) thank you for the kind words.,

have a good wkend all!!

tootie~ WTG on week 3!! Keep up the good work!

Whoysa~ Good luck in the Triathlon tomorrow! I know you will do GREAT! I agree with Kathy...make sure you post pics, okay!

Kathy~ I go to the YMCA and do the machines there. They have a machine for just about everything. I may have to check that book out as well. Thanks Whosya!

I am home from work early. I am going to complete a 20 minute run on my new treadmill. Cross you fingers! I will let you know how it went after the EMS leave........

I hope everybody has a wonderful weekend. I'm going to try to post some, if I get the chance.Busy weekend coming up. Have a great one!!!

No need for EMS, just a Priest for last rights!!!!

No actually, it was terrible. As you know I havea new tredmill, I usually run outside; but that can be conditional with weather variable and time of day or night.

Since I love to challenge myself, I decided I would do 20 minutes on my new machine. It is preety cool, I can put my Iphone/Ipod right in it and it plays through the speakers of the machine. Loud too.

I was running along; it did not look good or smell good - but I was doing it; 10 minutes past - I wasn't dead. HUH, not bad. Then all of a sudden my new treadmill geared up to 6.5 mph. I had to step on the sides to get it back to my snails pace of 4.5. OK after that little hiatus, I was chuggin' along; still not dead yet. Remember my music is up really loud, I am face away from the stairs. 17 minutes into; my DH says from behind me (apparently he was watching await) Holy S- - T! you can run! I was startled, but stared laughing; so onto the siderails I went for another 30 sec. readjust and remount! I then finished.

TADAH!!! I stuck the landing..... Tomorrow is anothe day.

Like some of my insane friends, I am thinking about trying it again tonight.

Love to all you nuts. Lynn:wink_smile:

Lyn, I always love your posts. Please don't ever stop posting. You always crack me up!! Yes, I am the insane nut that runs again at night. I think it's having the treadmil in your home staring out you. I swear mine calls my name when I walk by. Just like one of my kids begging for attention.

I just finished my run. I upped my walk time to 3.8 and my run to 5.1. I didn't want to finish at 3.1 again. Well, I have to walk for an extra 45 seconds, but, including warm up and cool down I did 5K in 40 minutes, 15 seconds. Not bed for a novice.

I listened to a little bit of the week 10 talk at the very end of my walk. He said that the next step is "Gateway to 8K". That should give all of us ladies something to look forward to. It doesn't stop at the end of the 5K.

Whosya, I can't wait to here about your triathalon tommorow. That is just too cool. I told DH last night that I know I am crazy, but I would really like to train for a triathalon someday. I haven't a clue where to start, but it just sounds like the most amazing thing to accomplish. Congrats to you!!!

I would like to run a 1/2 marathon some time. If I keep training and

adding more miles on my treadmill; I am sure I can do it.

OK everyone what is your personal exercise goal? When you reach you ultimate weight and healthiness goals. What is the one thing you would like to reward yourself with?

  • Author

Ok, here I go. I thought my goal was to run a 5K, and it was. Now I am thinking 8K, and at some point I would like to train to run a triathalon(I don't even know how far each part of that is  )

When I reach 150 I plan to reward myself with a tummy tuck, thigh lift and breast lift!! Can't wait.

DH told me a few weeks ago that after I finish all of the above surgeries and have healed well he wants to take me to Cancun to celebrate. How we are going to pay for all that is another story, but those are my goals.

My ultimate goal is to weigh 150 lbs. I plan on having a tummy tuck, thigh lift, breast lift, and arms done. I also plan on having laser hair removal done as well. Can't wait!!

Oh, and DH said he will take me on a cruise. Never been on one before, so that's really exciting!!

My ultimate goal is to run a 5k without stopping!!! Ok, so my goals aren't too lofty! Once I achieve that, I'm not sure if I want to run longer or not. So if I can do that, I'll be happy. Then I'll plan to run the 5k 3-4 x per week... maybe train the dog to run with me.

My ultimate non-fitness goal is to not have my legs rub together, not have my knees hurt when I climb stairs (not necessarily weight related, so might never happen) and enter a room wearing a hot outfit and drawing all the attention... in a good way! Not too lofty... lol

How will I celebrate... by dropping a lot of money on some new clothes! I've been on a cruise... very nice, but DH doesn't like them. Carribean vacations are not fun with 2 kids along, so won't be doing that!

I forgot to list my ultimate exercise goal. I would have to say running the 5k without stopping is the major one. I too would eventually like to venture off into biking and more swimming. Maybe a triathlon eventually??

This may sound crazy, but lately I've been thinking about eventually working at a gym. I know, weird right? I stay at home with my son now and I thought maybe when he's ready to start school, I may try to get a job in the fitness dept at the YMCA part time. I should be pretty close to my goal weight by then. Seems far fetched right now, lol. I don't know, just something I've thought about.
