The stars didn't align for me today. I ended up first forgetting my phone (with the pod cast), went back to the house to get it, got to the gym and realized hubby had taken the earphones out of the car. So, I did the Elliptical and thought I was going to die. Normally I do it with no problem, but 4-5 days off, huge difference. Hopefully I can start back tomorrow and just go every other day and eventually catch up. You guys are all doing awesome - keep up my daily inspiration!

minpinmom- Great job getting back to the gym today. It is tough when you don't feel 100%. But you did it and you now know that you can do it again.

Just going and taking the first step, them the second, then the third and .....

To all of you who what to take a bow, DO IT! Folks will just think it is part of your routine. I love doing arm stretching where I actually pat myself on the back. Self talk is important. Your subconscious listens. You CAN DO THIS!! You DID DO THIS!!! You WILL DO IT AGAIN, and again, and again.

As a wise man has said before me:

Just Freaking Do It!!!!!

I will do my second workout of week one tomorrow.:tongue2: My thighs feel like rubber. When I took my son to soccer conditioning this evening I walked an hour with the other moms. So, I am really feeling it tonight.

I have been concerned about my arms. I have big bat wings:ohmy: I hope with some weights they won't be too bad. I prefer not to have surgery, but will if needed. I have discovered the "8 minute arm" workout on www.youtube.com The video is from the 90's, you can tell by how they dress, but I was able to do it and it works all the muscles in your arms and shoulders. :wink2: If you search youtube, you can find 8 minute workouts for abs, butt, legs, etc...

Good luck to all, and to all a good night.

My surgeon okay'd me today to start lifting my son . I was late and so didn't have a lot of time to talk to him about jogging and he had to leave. I have been walking everyday but would like to start week one today and into next week.

How soon after surgery before you did something like this? I know its 6 weeks before I begin weight lifting, thats fine. I feel okay, no pain, everything seems to be healing wonderful. I plan on taking it slow and if anything hurts at all I will stop. I also will be pushing my son in a jogging stroller. I've been pushing him for the past week without a problem, its very easy to push, less then 10 pounds. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Well I got my fill today (wooHoo). I will be on liquids for 3 more days and my dr. doesn't want me to exercise at all till I am on solids again. My Dr. says I don't lose weight as fast because I exercise too much. I find that so hard to follow, but my last time in WW, they said the same thing. Lose a lot of the fat first, then move on to heavy exercise. I will be back next week, starting at week 1 again. I am such the Rebel! Keep me updated as to your progress! And send me "get restriction" thoughts - this was my 5th or 6th fill, I am now at 3CC in a 4CC band. I pray I will finally get restriction!

Haven't been on in a couple days (computer problems) and I sure did miss reading about how everyone is doing! I did week 2 day 1 on Tuesday and will do day 2 tomorrow. I found it to be definately more challenging then week 1, but doable. Today I took a step class. First time trying that and it was fun! I never thought I would be enjoying exercise this much. I must admit though, I am a little nervous about next week having to jog 3 minutes straight! I guess we'll see how it goes.

Great job everyone! Keep posting cause you guys keep me motivated!

Mamato, I love your enthuesiasm(sp) It is your excitement that I needed tonight.

I just finished day 2 of week 2. It was easier than day 1 was. I am actually thinking I MIGHT be able to run 3 minutes straight by next week. I actually found myself quite enjoying my run tonight. I don't recommend waiting until 10p to run, but today was just jam packed and I didn't want to put it off!!

Way to go everyone!! We are going to be some fit running machines!!!!!

mamato,

let me know how you like your step class. I have always loved step aerobics. In the past I have always dropped weight like crazy while stepping!

Speaking of stepping, because I was at an amusement park all day yesterday, I didn't get to do by 5k, doing it today though. I had just went to the same park in May and felt miserable, now almost 20 pounds lighter (but still obese) I felt on top of the world running around the park. Sure the belts were a little snug on some of the rides. I was having some trouble climbing all the steps to get to the top of some of the rides. That was a good reminder on why I need to keep up the exercise. I want to be able to run up the steps like I used to.

looks like everyone is doing great- congrats!!!

did week 3 day 2 and it was ok. I think I'll be able to move to week 4. My heart rate is still getting up there but recovers very quickly (within 30 seconds of stopping).

going to vegas (giving a talk on saturday) so will do week 3, day 3 there. Its always hard for me to stay on plan when I'm traveling and I need to get around that because I travel often for work.

Everyone have a good weekend and keep up the good work!!!!!

Renewed - I hope you know that it was YOUR enthusiasm and success that gave me mine!

Bonnie - I'll let you know how the class goes. I still didn't have all the steps down after the hour last night but I'm assuming it will get better the more I do it.

Yep me too. Keep going. Don't stop. Perhaps you will not lose anything in the next couple of days but you have nothing to lose(but weight) if you keep going. You body will respond. I would look at your diet. If you are restricting yourself too much (under1000) then your body will revolt. If you feeling pain stop. If not keep up the training. Daily.

send me "get restriction" thoughts - this was my 5th or 6th fill, I am now at 3CC in a 4CC band. I pray I will finally get restriction!

Part of this journey is training your mind. Self talk is powerful.

"I will have what I need to progress on this journey"

"I will nurture my body with healthy foods"

"I am improving my overall health with daily exercise"

Good luck!!

I just got done reading everyone's post and I fill so inspired! I have to lose 10 lbs before my surgery Aug. 6th and I'm having a terrible time doing it....I have actuly gained 3 lbs not the direction I want to be going in!

I used to be the workout queen! When I quick is when I started packing on the lbs along with having 3 kids!(: It was my last one that did me in!

I will only be able to do it up till my surgery but, I think it's going to help get ready for it. I hope that's ok

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
