GA - I read where some people get a thicker liquid put in their band if they problems with Fluid leaking out. It might be worth asking about. How did your appointment go?

Hey Suzanne! Well, I didn't get the news I wanted. I was missing 1.2cc in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, it is still a pretty slow leak, even though it's getting worse. With it being so slow, it's not going to show up on the dye test yet. So, that means I just have to go in every 2 weeks for measurements and fills until the leak gets bigger. I was really hoping to be able to do the dye test and get the surgery over with!!

He did say that he could go ahead and do surgery, but there is no guarantee he would be able to find the leak. I don't want that to happen so I guess I have no choice but to wait it out.

Hopefully the leak will keep getting bigger and it will big enough to do the test on soon!

Oh, thanks for the thicker Fluid suggestion Suzanne. I doubt they would use it since they want to see more fluid leaking, lol. But, thanks anyway. If the leak doesn't get bigger soon, I may just suggest it so I can get some decent restriction!!

GA, I read about it in another thread and they were saying on there that some people's fluid actually seeps out through the membrane/tube without an actual leak and that the thicker liquid permanently solves the problem.

Maybe do a search on it and see if it could help you. I know you must be so frustrated! Hang in there.

I've been given a gift the last week or so with the weather... it's been absolutely beautiful here. Slightly cool, sunny, fall leaves and not too windy. The best of fall that Ontario has to offer. For those of you in the South, I may envy you during our horribly cold winters, but there is no where better to be than here in the fall, and its lasting a lot longer this year. Usually its snowing by now or pretty close to it. Our golf courses generally close by end of Oct, and most are still open enjoying the extra long season.

I've certainly taken advantage of it for running. During the week its dark before I get home, but on the weekend (last and this) I've really loved the outdoor runs.

Hope everyone's enjoying the weather and running!!

Kathy- glad the weather is treating you nice! It's good to hear from you. Enjoy those runs while you can!

Hope everyone is doing well! I ran 3 times last week and plan to move to week 4 tomorrow. My SIL is running with me and we've been working with a trainer at the gym some too. He worked us HARD Friday...I could barely walk yesterday. Today is much better. I no longer feel like an old lady, lol!

Have a great week everyone!!

Well, I started week 4 today and I thought I was going to die!! I did finish it, but it was a challenge. I had to cut my first 5 min run a little short (probably 1 minute short). Not sure what happened, but I was having a touch of reflux this morning when I woke up and I started choking during my run! I almost puked on the treadmill, lol! I eventually recovered and was able to finish the rest.

I haven't been able to eat anything today! That is really weird for me. Maybe mother nature is about to visit??? I don't know.

My restriction seems to be holding out longer this time. I think my band is possessed

Georgia... maybe you should give your band an alternate identity, and name it something silly, like "bubbles" or something that makes you laugh... that might train it to stop being so unpredictable and nasty! LOL. Keep up the excellent progress.

I'm going to run on the treadmill tonight just to loosen up a bit from the longer runs this weekend. Plus I've got to get the stress of the day out! Ughhh what a day!

I ran last night on the treadmill and really pushed myself. DH and I are in a challenge with Nike+ and I really want to beat him, so I had to do 4k or more... so I did 4.4k, and I ran it faster than I have been lately. It felt great, and I slept like a baby all night! Had the runner's high and everything.

I'd like to join.........Oh my gosh, what am I saying. I am 52 years old, 217 lbs, and have not even tried to run since I was 18. This is a very scary undertaking for me but I will do it! I started week one on my treadmill tonight. It was tough but I managed to finish it. Thank goodness for the handrails on both sides of the treadmill. I held on for dear life. LOL Needless to say, I was huffing, puffing and cursing but, I finished. This is probably the bravest undertaking I have made in decades. I am not certain I will ever be able to run 5k but I will finish, (even if I have to walk part way)

Welcome sndycnrd!

I managed to get through another day of week 4 today....without choking, lol! I may do week 4 again next week. I don't feel like I'm quite ready to move on yet. I also did Pilates today, so I'm sure I'll pay for that tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Welcome Sndy... congrats on taking one of the hardest steps... the first one! All you have to do is take it at your own pace, progress as you can and when you're ready and you will end up loving this as much as we do! Don't worry about your age or weight. I'm 43 and started last year when I weighted 243. I struggled big time throughout each week. Most weeks I couldn't finish all of the intervals until the 3rd or 4th try, but kept with it. Then it just started to get easier. I really loved the feeling I had after running each time. I felt so proud and totally amazed that I could actually run... ME! Then one day about 3 months in, I realized DURING the run that I loved it. Then I knew I was hooked. There have been a few periods where I don't run for a few weeks, but not more than 3, and then I'm back at it, going every day or 2.

I just finished another treadmill run, and am really enjoying the euphoric "runner's high". DH is now running, so I'm hoping he doesn't run more than 5k, so I can still beat him in the challenge that we have ending tomorrow!

Well.....did you win???

I ran outside today. It was such a beautiful day for running. Not too cool, not too warm.....just right! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
