I managed to run a couple of miles today, but I must say, my body is totally exhausted. I am hoping to be able to do a complete run tomorrow, but it just wasn't happening today.

Georgia, I hope your ankle feels lots better soon.

Georgia~ OUCH! Take it easy and keep it elevated. Some ice should keep the swelling down. I always have the kids use a bag of frozen peas, it wraps easier.

Running outside scares me a bit, to be honest. Now I'm even more scared!

I do the other stuff because I'm training for a triathlon so I need to train running, bike & swim. Pilates is the only actual cross-training if you want to be technical. The rest are part of the sport!

I like swimming and biking the most. Running is just there. I used to hate it, but now I don't. I've actually somewhat gotten into the running. I think it was Couch-to-5K that did that for me. Before I would just go out and run as long as I could and then my lungs would be screaming, my muscles sore, and a bout 2 weeks into it, something would go out (usually the back) and that would be the end of that.

Same here. I hated running in the past, but the C25k worked for me. Now I look forward to my runs and usually enjoy the time while running.

I love swimming, but don't have access to a pool. I hate biking. I think the motion of turning the peddles won't work with my arthritic knee. Funny how I can run 5k without any pain in my knees, but can't climb a single stair with my right knee.

I admire anyone who can do a triathalon. That is such an accomplishment.

I've been craving cabbage rolls for the last week or so, which is very strange because I've never made them and only had them a handfull of times in my life. So I googled a recipe that sort of looked like what my Mom did and made them. My DH (being of Polish decent) helped with what he remembered his Dad making... so we'll see if they turn out. About another hour in the oven.

No run tonight, but just finished our 1m family walk. It was cold and snowy, but a nice walk.

I have really loved the C25K, it really helps you get started running without over doing it and then quitting.

I had a great run today! It was 53 and sunny, ran in short sleeves - oh yeah!

Kathy - hope the cabbage rolls turned out! Isn't it funny how you will crave certain foods.

53F and running in short sleeves?! Yikes, my Cali blood is turning blue at the thought!

It was 60 here and I wanted to ride my bike but dh's dad popped by unexpectedly for a visit. He lives 3 hours a way so we don't see him that much.

Hey guys! My ankle is getting a little better each day. I can walk much better today. DH was calling me peg leg because of the way I was walking, lol. It's still swollen, but it's getting better. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can run again.

That's great news Georgia!! Keep getting better!!

I weighed this morning and i have lost 1 measly pound in the last week. I am sure I have gained muscle with all the running I have been doing, but man I want to see the scales drop!!

I'm glad you posted that renewed because I forgot to update my ticker this morning. I lost 2 lbs. I was hoping for 5 this week. I did really good up until I sprained my ankle. I haven't eaten that good since and haven't exercised. I can't help but think I would have lost more if I had just ate good on Saturday and Sunday. Oh well...I'll take it.

Renewed, good job girl!! I'm sure you gained some muscle from all the running. Keep up the good work!!

55 degrees is downright hot in my opinion! I just finished a 2 mile run with the dog (she kept up!!) in 17 degree weather! It felt great... honestly! As long as you bundle up in layers, its fine. I'm only worried about the ice and snow, but it wasn't too bad today. The dog loved it too!

Georgia... I'm so glad your ankle is feeling a bit better. Congrats Renewed and Georgia on the moving ticker! I know its not moving as fast as you want... I hear ya!

I have run 46 km since Dec 26th, and as of this morning, I've lost 0.5 lbs in that time. I also haven't been really overeating, so its been a bit frustrating. I choose to look at it this way... I did eat Cookies and chocolate during that time (not too excessive) and didn't gain anything. So by running, I'm improving my health and maintaining my weight!

BTW, the cabbage rolls were EXCELLENT!!! They were just like my Mom's. DH loved them too. So now we have a whole lot of them for our lunches over the next while. It wasn't too hard to make either, and its very healthy.

I noticed Whosya has eeked ahead of renewed in the challenge!!

Yeah, I haven't run since Saturday. I was hoping to sluff off today as well, but it appears i will be getting my tail on the treadmill. I know if I let him get ahead at all he will be kickin m butt within days. I don't know if all of you know Salsa, but she is my running hero and the reason I began running to start with. You will notice that she has joined our challenge. OH DEAR!! She is one awesome runner. My hopes of any chance of winning this challenge are most likely shot, but i am so glad she is running with us. My number 1 goal is still to beat ya Whosya!!! LOL I am really going to have to keep going strong to have a chance at that either. I am wanting to slip back into nothing mode after my weigh in, but the challenge won't let me! WooHoo!!

Ok All or Nothin Girl... don't give into the dark side! You are doing awesome. Make a plan to run 4 days and rest 1, run 4, rest 1. That way you'll still get in a few rest days to recover and try to kick butt. If you don't win the challenge, you'll still kick butt overall! You're already almost triple my distance!

Salsa I think was banded the same month as me... part of the Lucky 7's I think.

Ok... kind of a weird question... I've been losing some fat on my body (yeah!!) which has made my skin a little loser and bones more noticable. I was rubbing my upper arm (itchy) and noticed it was all bumpy under the skin, kind of like hard cottage cheese. Its not noticable to see unless I pull the skin a bit. Is this fat deposits or should I be concerned? Its on both arms?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
