Such a major decision - so much information - such a huge cost hellllllllp

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just so you know that I am between a rock and a very fat place!

Is there any support groups that meet in either Central London or Hertfordshire area that I could speak to people, face to face (me technophobe). I know I want a lap band fitted, but not sure which surgeon, what package - does it include include aftercare and are the fills included in this and what country to have it done in!

Then just to throw a spanner in the works I get a call from India, Forerunners Healthcare to say that they have an all inclusive pack for 6300 US Dollars and my partner can stay in my room with me whilst I am recovering - 4/5 days after surgery.

Please, those of you who have had your surgery will probably know how difficult a decision this is, so your comments will be most appreciated. Also the NHS is not an option, my BMI is 35.4 and I have no underling illnesses :tt2:

Thanks

A

Unfortunately I don't know anything about doctors or support groups in the UK. I do know $6300 USD is a very very good price, but it's crucial that you check out the surgeon and the facility very very well.

For me all of the information I was learning in my research was extremely overwhelming. It's my nature to research everything very carefully so I went to support group meetings, a seminar, I was all over the internet for DAYS reading the diaries and blogs of people who had had either bypass or lap band; I watched the video diaries of patients on You Tube, I watched the surgery being performed on You Tube; I read forums like this one. My brain was completely overloaded. I spent the first several weeks changing my mind every 30 minutes or so about whether I wanted bypass surgery or lap band surgery. My brain was tired!

As I sifted through all the information and slowly started making some decisions, things calmed down and finally I was at a point where I knew what, who, where, when, and why!

I know I haven't really addressed your specific question, but I wanted to share with you that the overload of information, the confusion, and feeling overwhelmed, is part of the process. I wish you the best of luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
